Why not Xen, overselling memory in Xen takes less CPU than in KVM, I think.

  • Can we use the 8GB ram for 24/7?

As long as someone else on that server hasn't taken it up :p

There will come tutorials on how to allocate ram all the time without having anything running though :)

    :D
This is one question that someone might ask in the future. Some would also ask, can we use the core 24/7? :D

Is there order link? pre-order link?

The core isn't hard with KVM. You can set hard resource usage restrictions so you only get e.g. 1/2 a core equivalent etc.

It would be fun if cores can be limited like how bandwidth is.

For example, in some provider you can use 100mbps or 1gbps for upto the first 4TB of transfer. Then after that reduce you to 10mbps unlimited.

If that can be translated to cpu cores, it will be cool. For example Use/burst 100% of core for upto XXX minutes, then reduce you to XXX mhz for unlimited amount of time.

You can do that with SmartOS. Is why we're experimenting with it for the new panel. New tech take longer sadly and these stuff are holding it back.

Actually, we are doing something similar, but not automated. If someone is over the CPU quota for long or has very high spikes, we throttle. This way abusers are discouraged since they will have to open a ticket why their cores have 400 Mhz instead of 2200.

  • I'll definitely be ordering this.

where is the surveymonkey link ?

  • akzakz Member

I would be in as well

  • Can disk I/O be throttled as well?

  • CoreyCorey Member

    This sounds dumb.

You would need to contact MS Licensing about that, I highly doubt it though.

CPU Wise yes, stability wise and leaving things in userland wise Xen would be a ridiculous choice for this as no doubt you know or you guys would have used it:)

Very constructive thanks, so does "ppp 24/7 support", why would ppp not be available 24/7?

If you can, yes you can haha.

Have you changed your mind about using windows? Maybe you could provide a trail and we have to have our own licences. What's about uploading images?

Do you consider providing EU locations as well?

  • vanarpvanarp Member

@AnthonySmith When are you expected to launch it?

  • Very nice and brave new plan offer... just watch out for the resource abuser..need a strict aup on this plan.
