i mean tun/tap to allow VPN connections

    As said in the post:

    It'll be Xen powered VPS

So of course you can use TUN/TAP in your VPS.

@the_pfy Of course you can! But private use only.

@finlandvps It would be allowed as long as it is not a public vpn service. I can't say it for sure though.

  • thats great, My current VPS provider uses Xen but VPN isnt allowed...
it would only be for personal use, it would be good for when my wife is in the UK so she can watch and do all her things I cant do on a UK IP :-)

  • is there any update on this?

    How is it now?

  • International bandwidth is expensive in SK. You can expect this company to either fold or cancel plans after a month...

  • officially launched yet?

  • Soon to be released! We're working on the web interface.

@Eobble Actually no, there is no extra cost for international traffic.

  • I think rolling out the web-interface step by step like Swiftway is not a bad at all. Instead of waiting until every perfect, some early teaser should be interesting.

Yea, no, any BW is expensive in SK - And KT/SK do not care about Int/Ext anymore now that they have a shitload of outbound connectivity unused:

Home users have fast internet in KR and use mainly national traffic and Inbound Int -
Torrent, Streaming etc., nearly NO outbound.

DCs have mainly outbound and much less inbound = synergy, as 95% is only billed on the higher scale, the other is free up to that limit (So if you pay for 10GE inbound and use 1GE out you pay the same if you use 10GE/9.9GE).

Just saying traffic is expensive in SK, I pay a arm and leg for my dedicated server for my VPN service...

  • I'd be interested if there are fairly cheap yearly plans also, could do with one in a location like this. :)

  • Ok I've always been curious about south korean vps market. Why don't we see plenty ? Almost every year cnn keeps broadcasting how south koreans get the fastest internet in the world & yet we don't see a lot of south korean offers. Aren't there datacenters there or are they expensive ? If I could get a vps with a 10gbps uplink for $7 I wouldn't really care if it was in usa or south korea!

So why aren't south koreans using their speedy internet infrastructure to dominate de hosting market ?

Local connection is fast but once you go overseas it gets relatively slow. Same idea as a local campus, you can achieve up to 1gbps in any dorm room but speeds to the outside world is a fraction of that.

There are lots of VPS services in Korea, and some of them are even LEB priced ($4-5/mo). We just don't see them often on this site because:

    1) Their websites are all Korean, and they don't want to provide support in any language other than Korean.

    2) They don't want to do business with foreigners because their payment gateways make it a PITA to do so. The banking system in Korea is relatively isolated from the rest of the world, so it's much easier to deal with fraud if they only accept domestic payments.

If you live in Korea and know how to speak Korean, it's easy to find affordable VPS in Korea. If not, you're stuck with non-Korean companies.

Anyway, @Relip: I'm also very interested, please PM when your service launches.

Similar things happen from Orlando and voxility. Didnt test further, maybe it is down ?

  • Sorry for the delay, we're looking at December for the launching date. Many things happened at once last couple of months and it caused delays to our plan. @alexvolk

    @recycleddomain Noted!

@budi1413 We don't have any experience of KVM, so we don't have plan for that right now.
