Xei said: You're entitled to your opinion but my experiences over a long period of evaluating BuyVM (half a year+) in two locations is evidence otherwise. FYI, personal attacks won't get you far in life. I was just expressing my experience and I would hope everyone is still allowed to do so. In any case I don't want to detract from your narrative so keep spinning and leave me out of it.

I come here for offers, announcements and reviews of potential worthwhile providers.

So, you shitting on LET, a community I have participated in actively since 2011, is not a personal attack against the community and the people here that are in it (myself included)? You say you don't like LET hosts but you "come here for offers, announcements and reviews"? This is like saying "I hate pizza, but I eat it everyday for dinner" and just as silly. If LET hosts are such utter shit, then why are you even here and why do you feel obligated to come into threads and talk like that about the community and the hosts that participate in it? That is both rude and insulting to the people in this community.

If I wanted to shit on you 'personally', believe me, it wouldn't be in such a kind hearted manor as these two posts. My intention here is to hopefully make you take a step back and read what you are writing before you post it, especially if you are going to take a big brown runny dump on the people and hosts of this community.

    my 2 cents.

    Cheers!

Go out and have a drink. Or smoke a joint :). Just because someone doesn't use/like 'LET hosts' now, shouldn't mean they can't hang around for the discussions and the drama(ahem!). No need to get all bent out of shape over it.

Don't forget the AWS outage in the headlines a few days ago, from the supposed king of enterprise hosting. Xei does sound like someone with an axe to grind.

I had a colleague visit from India. I thought he was a vegetarian but he announced he was looking for "really good chicken" so I took him to some nice places around town. Didn't like #1 ("grilled") or #2 ("cut up in sauce"). A week later he called me and said he'd found paradise. "Kentucky Fried Chicken! It is so good!"

Apparently, fried chicken is quite popular in his part of India...but nothing like the massive artery-clogging 2" thick breading, grease-dripping fare at KFC. It was like a man who'd only ever had a sip of wine suddenly discovering heroin.

He still talks about it. (There are a couple KFCs in India but they're far from him).

Don't forget that chains like KFC do have an army of chefs, chemical engineers, specialists in taste etc., that are design a product that can be cheap to produce and addictive to the customers. Even if we all know the quality of junk food...

Every now and then I break down and get a drumstick at KFC (one drumstick). Everything in moderation ... I also get corn on the cob with the drumstick to try to balance the meal somewhat. :-)

  • I went to a KFC in China with a buddy from there. I'm used to US KFC so I couldn't understand why he'd want to go to such an awful place, but to my surprise it was actually decent (much less of that artery clogging breading etc). He asked me how it compared to the US version and I told him the Chinese version was definitely better. He was excited by that and started telling other people in the restaurant about it in Chinese. I thought that was pretty funny. Whatever.

I'm kind of lost in this thread: why are we talking about chicken and KFC when we could be talking about disappointments with buyvm? :-)

(But just to add that one corn on the cob is significantly more expensive than one drumstick at KFC!)

KFC in India is crap as well. And I am sure there are more than a couple or KFCs here.

KFC tastes great in any country with lax food regulations.

    Sorry again.

Was thinking it would be more awesome if a shared hosting exist with these 2 features
    1. HA - 2 nodes for better uptime
    2. User accessible automated backups

    Thanked by 1willie
  • Buyshared is amazing at the price. I don't even think about running my own httpd for random personal pages any more. I do like the idea of an HA shared host and I'm sure there is plenty of demand for it. But it should use all 3 locations and anycast.

I am sorry for bringing in KFC, didn't think people have so strong opinions about it :o...
Actually, I never ate there IIRC, however, I do kinda make my own chicken stuff.
