Maybe its imunify360? Not sure if it covers FTP too, but its highly annoying for websites. But its not limited to namecrane when googling all the problems people have with it with every provider that

You have 2 different providers with FTP issues, it can't always be Fran's fault here.

@nameserver I can’t recommend NameCrane as a web hosting provider. I had ongoing issues with FTP access, and after a few back-and-forth messages, their support told me it’s “my problem” and just close

I'm currently on cPanel shared hosting that will expire next year and from reading around here I'm now thinking of migrating my existing site to DirectAdmin as well, and stay over the long haul.
