It will come to the UK one day :P
Damn... I wish I lived there...
This..
Too costly? Move to Canada. This would exhaust my old Rogers cap in 25 seconds. Rogers best package is 75M down, 2M up for 99.99 a month with a 250gb cap. That's about 4 minutes of downloading at gigabit speeds.
I already asked my wife if she's ever thought about moving to Kansas City.
Wow.. you could offer colo services at home!!
They also offer free 5 Mbps connections, if you pay the construction fee.
>
I'm sure they have terms of service blocking any type of hosting.
Yeah.. Can you imagine it, direct 1gbps fiber, going straight to your basement based DC
You think WholeSale/DataShack/Joes will use this?
Cheap peer.
costly? $70? come on! It's the cheapest thing I have look at!
WTF?! Free INTERNET?!?!?! OMFG
While they get their Gigabit internet, my fight for 100Mbit internet finally paid off today, guess what.. ta da.. But it's only 100/10. ;(
I already get around 100mbps for 12-13$.. Anyway, I have never managed to get over 50mbps from international sites (I did get 60-65mbps uploading files to my Austria server, but it is something rare).
/me jelous, we'll be paying £25/month for 100/10mbps..
Kansas will get more kiddy host running from their basement soon
raspberrypi colo, It is TIme!
That's my neighbors car hence the blurring, they've got two Mercs and a BMW so it's only right of them to get a Ford too. I lol'd when he had to park his merc on the main road since there was no space.
"Google believes that its fiber will put data access speeds on the same exponential growth curve, saying that a Gigabit is only the beginning of its plans." Wow
Am quite happy with 100Mbps Down
A gigabit should do the whole whole street!
$140/month for 12/1Mbps here.
I would almost consider moving to Kansas City now, it if wasn't in... Kansas City.
Yeah you guys need to come to Canada, telco prices are insane.
What would you even do with 1Gbps down? Seems a little.. much.. yeah?
I can understand for an office building, sure. But to your home?
>
I retract my statement, everyone can use a gigabit.
Google Fiber should go to Datashack.
I think this is MUCH more interesting:
Gigabit speed with no data cap is the enabling step to server-based computing. Google will recover the investment by having people to scrap personal computers and replacing them with locked mobile devices / thin clients that use their services. This kind of computing device is actually well suited to non-technical people.
Nobody can use 1gbps, botnets are about to get some serious teeth, Google as an ISP is a horrible idea with their privacy record, and content servers can't deliver 1gbps to multiple users.
while :
do
wget http://cachefly.cachefly.net/100mb.test
done
clearly http://cachefly.cachefly.net/2000mb.test
I can use it.
You obviously haven't used other ISPs, like Mediacom.
Content servers can deliver a lot more than that...
