ipsystemsltd.com - false suspensions to cover low prices

Hello.

Since there is no scam/dispute section on LET i've decided to share the truth behind ipsystemsltd's low prices in the General category.

Around 14-24 hours ago i signed up with ipsystemsltd.com for the 512MB VPS package which costs only $6 for an entire year. at that time the deal was just too good to deny and i already had my suspicions about it but i still went through with it just to see for myself.

For 14 hours the vps ran flawless! premium quality! definitly not something you would expect from the given price point! i was really excited about it and showed that in this comment

http://lowendtalk.com/discussion/comment/905277/#Comment_905277

After the 14 hours passed (the next day for me) i woke up and noticed that my server is not reachable anymore! well, i'll let the pictures do the talking from now on - it is still early for me.

in the end it felt like i paid $6 for a 14 hr trail, not much else to say.

  • Well, nothing to say. I was about to purchase one. :). Anyway, nice desktop :)

  • I am using a vps from them for about 2 months now, never had any issues.

  • Our upstream sent us a screenshot with 30+ abuse emails regarding your IP.

Your upstream sent you spamcop messages old 2 days, late call messages i would say.
Please check client registration date and spam cop dates. There is normal for them to be late.

Looks like an abuse report from the previous customer, i changed the rdns from take.femei.org to 3.hath.wasted24.com at the very start. The only software that i've had installed and used is Denyhosts and HentaiAtHome client which both aren't disallowed in your ToS at the time of this writing. No email server or anything like that.

This particular client signed up on the 8th, the timeline fits right in.

There is no place for spam on our service, we have a zero tolerance policy.

It seems the mail was sent a mere 2 hours earlier.

Edit: There are other reports with later time stamps

    Thanked by 1VMNode
  • report could have been from anyone, he might have just edited the text file to make it look like i did it.

  • @drserver Paypal receipt says Feb 8.. but it doesn't seem likely that @Mark_R would sign up and start spamming. @johnkoozle perhaps you should review your policy and the activity of the customer last using that IP address

Are those times AM or PM?

They seem to always be in 24 hour format and not 12 hour, so those reports were made at 10am, Marks time was 21 (9pm).

That might be something to look into Mark, especially if you never had any sort of mail server installed.. The case could be the person before you was doing something dodge or a false/fake report.

Or the lowest thing ever, that report has been faked times changed, IP changed etc..

I really don't see any reason not to believe Mark he's been around these parts for a long time..

@johnkoozle do your OS templates have exon or another mail server installed by default?

    Incompetency right here.

  • Seems I was quite slow at posting that, most of it has been pointed out already...

  • only port 3000 has been used by me for H@H.

    Very nice of you

    After signup, there is several.

  • @johnkoozle Obviously the guy spamming started before his VPS was provisioned AND after.. makes total sense. It couldn't be what @drserver said in that these can show up late.. facepalm

  • john added a message to the ticket, still - i have real problems believing anything from his side since he made up something to suspend my service in my eyes.

    Small update:

@johnkoozle did unsuspend my vps as shown in the picture below

I still feel insulted to be called out for an spammer in the first place. hopefully this was a simple mistake with spamcop/timestamps or whatever and not an recurring event. I will request cancellation of the VPS though, i'm not going to pretend like this never happend and go on happy about it. Thank you all for reading this thread and i would like to encourage anyone to make their own judgement based on what has been posted here.

If it was indeed my mistake I apologize. Our service is often abused because of the price and ips. I'm more than happy to offer compensation for the mistake.

Well the HELO statement from the spam shows take.femei.org which is typically, unless altered specifically, the server hostname. It won't be difficult to know what the server hostname was for each client.

I can understand that but its best to part ways from now on, no compensation necessary.

Good decision, better stay away from such incompetent hosts

The email provided facts and an action was taken based on those facts. In the end those facts ended up being false. 9 times out of 10 they are correct. I am okay to own up to my mistake and provide compensation for it as I posted above. Several of the abuse reports specifically show OP's reverse DNS and had a time stamp of a few hours after the OP signed up. I chalked the other reports that were before he signed up as a time difference or something of the sort.

The time stamps may land in your favor but keep in mind that they can be based on different factors. Check the HELO, maybe run Nodewatch to catch excessive SMTP connections. Today is always a good day to improve and do better, that should be the goal every day.

  • A moderator has my permission to close this thread at will. I do not want to have this ended up in a pitchfork thread in any way. All i wanted was to share MY experience. In the end it could have been a honest simple mistake from @johnkoozle - its just my word against his.

    Thanks.
