  You might want to search smartctl tools

  Install first

  sudo apt-get install smartmontools

  Command for hours info

  smartctl -a /dev/sda | grep -e Power_On

  Command for smart test

  smartctl -I /dev/sda

  52814 hrs 2200 days 6yrs useage

  Thats a well used hard drive. Do the smart test to detect if there are any errors
