    2EURO will not happen why should it? OVH had 2,99 Dedi, then increased because of DDOS protection to 3,99 now 5,99 i dont think they go down again.

    The current cheapest online.net offer is the 9.99 EUR Via Nano with 500 GB disk. OVH are already "underbidding" online.net by offering the 4.99 EUR Kimsufi Atom.

    Atom D425 and N2800 are already better specs than Via Nano (supporting HT, and even dual-core).

    Stop being such a spoiled rotten kid demanding the world and the moon for your 2 EUR.

    @rm_ OVH probably has a shitload of old / unused / unneeded Atom 230 based servers. I wouldn't be surprised if Octave takes this personally and tries to make a counteroffer. You know he often makes offers before thinking.

    The most important thing at online.net is that they give support (for example in case a HDD dies). OVH can sell dedis for 2€/year, but they will still suck regarding support. I would never ever use OVH for productive things, but Online doesn't seem too bad right now.

    Why do you need support on a dedi, unless your hardware fails?

    (for example in case a HDD dies).

    In case of hardware failures there is no problem getting fast support from OVH too. You seem to be repeating the urban legend that "omg if my validation or ordering or whatever with OVH took so long, they must also take that long to replace an HDD".

    Well I don't need support anyway unless hardware fails, that's true. But going to some forum posting your stuff publicly and then wait for things to happen sucks. See, that button in Online.net just gives me a much nicer feeling.

    My first nano failed, it stopped letting me install an OS. After a few hours the control panel let me do a straight swap for another one instantly. It gave me a new ip as well so it was a new box. Very nice support compared to OVH there

    NEW IP = NOT FUN in most of the cases if you have a domino effect built with it or if you had apps/users accessing it by IP.

    If you have apps/users accessing it by IP you are doing it wrong.
    On the other hand if you have access lists, those usually go by IP.

    It's a 2 euros dedicated server, with min specs and no raid! It is not supposed to be used for live/production purposes, IMHO. In such a cheap machine, that company clearly sold it just for marketing purposes, the support is outstanding: quick, efficient, friendly!

    Most of the kids out here have seedboxes or other stuff which is considered for them live/production and not all of them use dns. I was just trying to explain a 1:1 swap to a different subnet is not really the best type of swap/support.

    So for 2 EUR/mo you demand "really the best" type of swap, one that would accomodate even the downright retarded usage scenario (by IP, not hostname) of some "kids" with seedboxes. I see.

    Auto-provisioning you with a different box on a click of a button is cheap and fast. Sending a tech down to the DC to unrack and diagnose your h/w, so that he could fix it and you could keep your precious IP, is not. Perhaps instead what they do is mark it as "faulty" and then it'll get processed in bulk with all those like it, at the end of the month or whenever that's scheduled.

    Someone above tried to make a point that online.net is so awesome that they gave them a complete swap in a few hours instead of just fixing the server. Me demanding the best service for 2euro/mo was not implied so don't twist things around. I was just saying that the 1:1 swap (with a different IP) is not in all cases the best scenario/option. As I said, don't just go and twist things around.

    It's not uncommon for people to wait weeks for a drive replacement at Kimsufi.

    This is normal. The server's power management will slow its clock when there isn't a CPU load.

    Does anybody know the UDP inbound caps for the OVH servers or if the IP per UDP option is available for the so-you-start lineup? They are not stated anywhere it seems.

    There seems to be an "IP per UDP" option(additional charge) which removes the UDP inbound cap but apparently not available for the kimsufi line.

    KS-2 is now also only D425. Ordered today 142sk7 (order show correct D425 - it was only my hope to get a N2800). But still 2TB instead of the 1TB HD shown in offer.
    I will use it only for backup, therefore the D425 is ok.

    If using sk7 yes its D425 but if using the sk2 than its N2800.

    Edit: ups now its turn into D425 as well :)
