Let me get this straight, will ks-1 get N2800 and 1Gbit eventually? And ks-1 2TB instead of 1TB?

From their twitter : we've started to deliver some "KS-X 2TB HGST Entreprise" today. We will change the website in Sep

we will gradually upgrade all KS on 1Gbps. we need to finish the upgrade before routing RBX1.

    KS1 too?!

  • This planned network upgrade is confusing from OVH. Does it mean the servers will get 100Mb/s with 1Gb/s burst for a short time ? Because Soyoustart/OVH doesn't even have that speed... Maybe the upgrade is only for internal network or download...

I would be very suprised if the KS-1/2 get 1Gb/s as upload speed... at least for the price.

they just say ks-x not sure is it for all ks

  • But more importantly I find it impossible to get the KS-1 plan, it's never available.

I just got a ks-1. Took me some time to get one but finally. Setup was pretty much instant as well.

well i think they dont have anything guranteed on the KS i think so it will be on best effort basis may be. on SYS they have about 250 mbps guranteed and OVH i guess 500 . but you can burst to 1gbps for peak times.

A simple trick to make your message two orders of magnitude less useless:
mention which CPU and which HDD did you get.

:) sorry about that. I'm on a crappy connection ATM but I'll set it up and post details later on.

  • I think Oles starts competing with himself again. It makes no sense to give gigabit to his lowest plans, when the higher tier (SYS) is limited to 200 Mbps.

AFAIK they aren't limited to 200 (actually it's 250) Mbps, 250 is just the lower bound.
And on KS nothing stops them from giving out non-guaranteed Gbit, instead of non-guaranteed 100 Mbit.
But sure, I don't see much rationale in that either, given the cost of replacing all the switches with managed Gigabit ones (and those are not cheap).

it's not limited to 200Mb its guaranteed 250Mbps. although u can get faster speeds.

It's just the same old D425, 500 gig of space. It's on RBX4 - Rack: 52A23 for what it's worth.

  • wychwych Member

All the cheap dedi's I see say 10/100 usually, if Oles can offer non-guaranteed Gbit its another extra for his marketing team to use.

Plus they may be upgrading the infrastructure anyway; they may want to house other systems (non-KS range) in the nearby racks.

I got sustained 11MB/s upload from a KS-2 Kimsufi in France to my other VPS located in the US. Pretty impressed for the price. At some point I'll have to put rtorrent on there...

Would be interested to know what percentage of KS-2 orders are the 2 TB hard drives.

People got 2TB drives on the KS-2? I sure didn't, and didn't really expect it either since it is advertised as 1TB.

  • any working script for ks-1 availability?

Can someone share the notification alert website for server availability?

    Just found this: http://goo.gl/hRSqu4

It basically means when you order something from OVH/SYS or Kimsufi with a different Location or ISP as you ordered something before you order could get delayed and needs to be checked by the OVH staff.

it might be locked to internal traffic only

Did you ever get an email from them notifying you about the successful VAT removal (not talking about the confirmation email)?

Also, how long did it take for the VAT to be removed? I'm going on 3 months now... :(

Price increase likely, right? I wonder how much more...
