I Shows me 4 CPU's, so 2 Cores and 2 Threads, but as you say it should show me 2 Cores + 4 HT also 6 CPU's in htop for example.

  • Hypertheading doesn't work like that.
You have 2 cores, each core has 2 (hyper) threads. So 2x2 = 4 threads total.

  • NeoonNeoon Community Contributor, Veteran

@rds100 so when all 4 threads have a load of 100% the server is basically on the limit?

Not sure what's going on but my torrents have been downloading at this speed for the past hour or so:

Lucky you, could you do a cachefly speedtest?

  • @wcypierre said:
did you managed to get good seeding speeds with it?

I usually get good seeding speeds with my RBX KS1 (also seeding Linux distros lol).
    Right now it's ~3.6MB/s.

There is a Tor relay in there as well, which takes up the remaining bandwidth, in general.

  • Mine only maxes at 10mbps+, at Roubaix

To anyone using own script to monitor KS stock: is the KS-1's product code 142sk1 or 142sk9?

Also, I just tried to order 142sk9 from a Turkish IP with an US identity, and it passed directly to the payment page. Either OVH's antifraud system doesn't work, or there won't be validations any longer (which I don't think would happen).

What's the problem? Validation is before payment if will take place.

Not really, it's after. You have the status of your order on the "Bon de commande", and you have to get your payment validated before the order can be completed.

    How does payment get validated?

  • NeoonNeoon Community Contributor, Veteran

Seems like when you have a OVH Account, which is validated and you pay with the same paypal email you get instant verfied your payment. Can anyone other confirm that?

It's not directly connected to the account. Your email with which you send the payment gets checked.

Yes, even when i paid on first time kimsufi account with paypal.

I don't think so, I have a validated OVH Account, and I have use the same paypal email to order the ks, even my kimsufi account also have already validated, but each time when I order, the payment still need manually check, damn...

They manually do some checks, sometimes ask for ID documents and that's it. What is written on your "Bon de commande" ?

my first server take 1 week to validate documents but the seconds server no need to validate (instant)

Looks like KS-2 has been in stock for a while despite saying out of stock on order page.

    https://www.kimsufi.com/en/order/kimsufi.cgi?hard=142sk2&dedicatedQuantity=1

I just ordered my first OVH/KS server with US paypal and it went through without needing verification. Got a server in RBX France. It's a N2800. Now to get rid of the VAT...

    Download speed from CacheFly: 11.3MB/s
Download speed from Coloat, Atlanta GA: 8.44MB/s
Download speed from Softlayer, Dallas, TX: 6.05MB/s

I'm satisfied, haven't set up rtorrent yet though.

  • What's the link for th KS3 ?

    Here's the full list: https://ws.ovh.com/dedicated/r2/ws.dispatcher/getAvailability2

142sk2 is marked as high availability but it doesn't show on the main site. So I guess they changed the product number or something?

edit: According to the HTML in http://www.kimsufi.com/en/

The KS-2 is now 142sk7 so that's why it's marked out of stock.

I ordered a 142sk2 and it's the same specs as the order page. Anyone know what the difference is? I got: N2800, 4GB RAM, 1TB drive

    Thanked by 1XTServers
  • Thanks for the link. I'll look it up in there.

  • anyone got vat removed sucessfully lately?, i stop trying after 3 emails...

  • @awnx: the N2800 is way better than the D425. I can tell you that for sure. You can be happy for what you got. :)

KS-2 is available now, seems they give pretty fresh HDD this time, got this:

    9 Power_On_Hours 0x0012 100 100 000 Old_age Always - 68

Very lucky! previously I got HDD more than 10k.

Ohh yes, you were very lucky. All of my KS had 1k+ on delivery.

1k hours runtime is better than 0 hours of run time for a HDD. A brand new disk is more likely to fail.

All of my KS box more than 10K except this one. But nothing critical so no problems, even pretty old drive but I got this result on my old KS-2:

On Proxmox OpenVZ (single IP+NAT) with 256 RAM:

    dd if=/dev/zero of=test bs=64k count=16k conv=fdatasync
    16384+0 records in
    16384+0 records out
    1073741824 bytes (1.1 GB) copied, 9.11282 s, 118 MB/s

Did anyone else here get a 2TB drive with their KS-2? Are they just not advertising it?

Yea, they are upgrading all offers within the next 3 months. Some nodes are already, so you're lucky ;)

@elijahpaul which cpu did you get D425 or N2800?
