    KS1 in rbx available

I think there is something broken with that script posted a few pages back, might be wrong but I kept getting ks1 available in RBX but nothing actually showed up on their website.

  • There was some on there before @akz posted, just gone very quickly.

@zhuanyi I have noticed the lag as well, the main site doesnt even update and before it updates it is available the stock is sold. You will want to use the direct link to order: https://www.kimsufi.com/en/order/kimsufi.cgi?hard=142sk1&dedicatedQuantity=1 if you use that you will be able to order. Heck if you goto the link as of right now you can still order lol.

but either way ks1's are popping up every 20 min the last few hours in rbx..

On a side note, there's a new configuration in RBX available:

    Xeon 2 x E5504
    8c / 8t
    2 GHz+
    16 Go ECC
    2 Tb
    100 Mbps
    24,99 € HT

Really new? I don't see any changes done recently.

Some people just visit the KS website once every couple of months, but nevertheless consider it's oh so useful if they rush to post their findings of "new stuff" here. Back some time ago we had someone go "oh look they got a new design", 2-3 months after it got rolled out. Etc.

...they have split the KS5 into KS5A and KS5B with different CPUs. -- June 24

  • @rm_ said:

That new design was me, I never visit anything other than the IE website so yes it was a new design.

Hey guys, new member here! I just got a KS-2 today and can I install Windows 2012 R2 on it? If not, which version of Windows can I install?

    Thanks in advance!

kimsufi seems not support windows as default, but you could try this:
    https://joodle.nl/kimsufi/install.html

    Thanks for the link!

I'm stuck on this part: "Wait a few minutes and an email will show up in your inbox with the details (username and password) of the rescue system."

I've waited 6 hours now and no email. I did it again a few hours ago to make sure I followed the steps correctly and still no email.

I've also checked spam folder and nothing. Maybe the guide is outdated now?

  • Did you reboot from the KS panel? :)

    Thanked by 1netomx
  • Sure one can trust this image?

Yep, that did it. Got the email almost immediately after rebooting.

I appreciate the guide but I wish it would say "After choosing Rescue mode from Netboot, you must also click Restart from the Kimsufi control panel" so as to not confuse newbies like me. :)

I thought all I had to do was choose Rescue mode from Netboot and then I would get the email. :o

    Thanks, XTServers!

  • No problemo man! Anytime!

Omg.. Are these kingston data traveller usb sticks attached to the mobos? The ones with the 8mb write/s ? :-)

  • They might be used for the rescue console imho.

I have another newbie question - so I have successfully installed Windows 2012 R2 on my Kimsufi server (thanks to joodle, yywudi, and XTServers) and logged in via RDP and everything's working fine... do I turn on monitoring again in my Kimsufi control panel? I was told to disable that in joodle's instructions.

  • @wych said:

Sure. However, their main hdd i/o can be easily compared to a USB3 DT :-))

  • It's a 6euro (vat included) ... dedicated ... server. Are we really complaining about not getting ultra fast performance? :)

Is it advertised as a b-grade one or something? They just mention the capacity of the disk, like on their enterprise plans. So, how can a buyer get what he wants? They are supposed to be professionals, with their own hardware/datacenter. How am i supposed to go with OVH for my bigger plans if my kimsufi acts like a Pentium?

USB sticks on the photo are because those are NAS-based servers from back in 2007.
Current KS don't have any, not even for rescue mode (which is based on remote/PXE boot).

I'm not sure what's your basis for complaint is. The disks used are just normal 3.5" or 2.5" SATA hard disks from Hitachi, Toshiba, etc. Not some special hobbled "Kimsufi" grade drives. Soooo, are you disappointed you did not get enterprise-grade 10K RPM SAS disks, or what.

So was it a picture during the set up of them?

I said that my KS has low I/O and that with such an experience (the first one from OVH) i would never purchase a greater plan, except if i knew that KS are b-grade before i place my order.

Its a really fair price for such a config, nothing to complain of, just mentioning the pros and cons :-)

The KS2 has been switched on http://www.kimsufi.com/fr/ from N2800 to the D425 CPU.
Now both of the cheapest servers are advertised as D425. Guess that does not exclude the possibility of being lucky and getting a N2800 in your server, but that's no longer guaranteed even for the 10 EUR one.

  • Can someone who can read french confirm the translation/interpretation Twitter link to OVH CEO comment " A new /16 has arrived. And with it, IP FO for KS" - so is KimSufi getting IP Failover? I may have also seen some ref on kimsufi english forums. Anyone see this yet?

Interesting, I assume they quit doing it because it was probably way cheaper to just use USB drives. Wouldn't blame them though, don't see how they profit on those atoms haha.

    500GB flash drives??
