Lowendspirit going down under

A post on the LES forum lets us know that the http://lowendspirit.com/locations.html page is updated.

Being a LES addict with services in each location I can't wait for this.

Spoiler alert!

    lol :)

Just so everyone is aware, this location is not nested and it is the first location not operated by Inception Hosting but I have worked closely with the other host to get things set up and do some trials/testing.

The offer for other hosts to get involved in the project was always there from day 1 and I think it is great that someone finally stepped forward with such a great location.

I wont say to much at this stage but release is imminent.

    No?

If only Observium supported IPv6...all those exotic green circles.

It's PHPs' fault - getbyhostname() only works over IPv4. I feel your pain though, wish they'd work around it.

  • AnthonySmithAnthonySmith Member, Host Rep

@Nekki tell me more maybe I can put a work around i place for LES?

getbyhostname() which Observium uses to lookup hostnames and turn them into IP addresses only works with A records/IPv4... I guess you could offer HAProxy stuff on the SNMP port like you do with port 80 if you would be willing.

If I remember correctly, you'd also need to be able to pass through pings, as that's the first availability check Observium undertakes when creating a new host.

So you are saying observium will only connect on 1 pre defined port?

Is the traffic TCP and does it contain headers?

Edit: why wont using a cloudflare IPv6<>4 full translation record work?

Ah really? That sucks. I tried looking through the mail list but it doesn't seem there's much demand at all for them to make it IPv6-only-host capable.

Again CF's IPv6<>4 full translation should allow that?

    EDIT: http://forum.lowendspirit.com/viewtopic.php?id=441

    Only on port 80.

  • mikhomikho Member

Free option only works with port 80.
And it would hit CF servers instead of the LES
