I edited it to 1 and rebooted and it now works without any issues.
Also added
exclude=kernel*
to /etc/yum.conf to prevent it from updating kernel.

Do note that they have no obligation to help if you're on an unmanaged plan (which is very likely). There's a reason why forums like these exist, use them or kindly ask your provider if they're nice enough to spend time on helping an issue you caused yourself.
Did you press the fancy button? VNC key combination pass-through can be tricky, especially with the Java client.

Sometimes VM itself freezes on kernel panic and you have to do full restart, not just ctrlaltdel.
