I got tired of the LET layout, so I built BetterLET (free Chrome extension)

That's a BS lesson to be honest.

The only reason people didn't like is because the color scheme, layout is common to AI and predictable.

Back in the days, the same criticism was there for most CSS frameworks especially against bootstrap.

I would say touch it, play with it, disintegrate it, build it whatever way you can

I did put the OG colors back in and kept its original design too.

Huh, there is actually someone else that doesn't like the stock theme eh? Welcome to the (thoroughly hated) club!

    My userscript: (https://github.com/AlteredParadox/let_userscript)

Nice to know someone else is here. Typical elitest memes. Everyone is toxic, no one says anything nice to anyone. lol.

@MakersHelpDesk I think it looks good.

    Thanks fam. Appreciate you.

are you bored? why do you think that is better?

Because I'm just here to piss in everyones cheerios apparently.

Make it block the ad garbage too and it could be actually more useful.

You can do that with your own ad blocker. No need for me to try and build that into this. Not sure why everyone is asking for that. Every browser has a adblocker in it. On smaller forums like this, the ads give character and are hilarious. How else would you find all the funny host names.

I don't see the benefit in retouching the UI aesthetics. There are quality-of-life features you could have done - there is another userscript floating around that lets you mute most comments in the "post invoice # to double the spam" threads.

There is utility in an "ignore thread" feature where you can say "Yeah this looks boring, I want to hide this thread so that whenever I visit the site next I don't even see it in the thread view and don't have to think about whether or not I care" (like threads from colocrossing resellers / MJJs complaining about getting banned, scammed, or scammed and banned).

Those are real QOL improvements. Color-coded buttons for new posts is, pardon my Norwegian, bullshit. Vanilla already exposes a feature to highlight threads with replies - there's a damn bright yellow label with the number of unread replies there.

The biggest problem with modding LET is that you are forced to play DOM Parsing games because the Cloudflare WAF blocks access to all of the *.json endpoints that you could have used for easier DOM reconstruction.

Thanks for sharing your feedback and giving your opinion. It has a hide if seen feature in it already. Its not for you and thats ok.

You are coming off as such an arrogant asshole ngl. I think I am beginning to agree with everyone giving you shit.

If you can dish it, you can take it. Its a direct response to people being cold and rude.

You act like a cold, rude bag of dicks, thats exactly what Im going to return. Those that did, generally got their energy matched. 🤷

Good one, I use the dark reader plugin to make it dark :) but you could add more features to this, and being open source anyone can add anything to it, such as notifications, etc.

  • @itzsenu since you seem to know a bit about designing UX using LLMs, if I may ask, apart from prompting it to inspire from Awwwards, what context enriching tools do you employ in order to really steer it away from one-shotted slops? Do you add a MCP that lists your purchased Tailwind Plus components? Or simple iterated prompts to hope for the best?

Default uBlock filters don't block these so I was using custom filters which did not work in your version.

i don't find anything hilarious or remotely funny in those flashy ads. Drama happens in the forum threads.

Is this self-preservation I'm hearing, from a guy who thinks unrestricted qemu-ga is a good thing?

Your first problem is purchasing Tailwind components. Your second problem is using Tailwind.

Before "AI Slop", there was "Bootstrap Slop". Bootstrap was a decent tool, but it made the internet so, so, so bland. Most people didn't bother to customize it. If they did, they only customized the color pallet but kept the design. Great for prototyping. I also enjoyed borrowing page styles when injecting userscripts/ content scripts onto people's websites for custom utilities. But it looks soulless.

If you want your clanker to do good UI for you, you want to restrict its context, not expand it. Don't tell it to use tailwind components, don't tell it to use bootstrap components. Your best bet is going to be to design something that looks good to you by hand, and then get the clanker to implement it. There are a lot of tools for prototyping websites and interfaces. Use those tools and then tweak. And also for heaven's sakes why are people paying for themes/components? I refused to pay for themes even pre-LLM. On professional pride alone I'd rather roll my own than pay $60.

You want to say qemu-ga is same level of exposure as chrome extensions? Maybe you need to go back to computer school.

Survey says yes. All depends on what permissions you give to the extension, or to qemu-ga.

If you install a chrome extension with a tight manifest you don't need to worry about it stealing credentials if you don't grant it permission to modify data on webpages you don't want to have credentials stolen from. But the same applies to ga - if you don't want it reading your password manager, deny it file read access.

Yeah, file it next to your layout. If there's enough room left.

  • Heyy can we collab? I'm an expert web designer with a lot of experience improving legacy interfaces, I'm sure @jbiloh can vouch for me!

bro. that looks great! i would TOTALLY rate that a 1.5 out of 10 on the totally-not-slop meter.

I work in marketing, thats why I find them entertaining. their so 2000's bad

You'll be a hero if you file all your other ideas in there too not just the layout. Hey, why don't you also file yourself?

@MakersHelpDesk You are silly and puerile.

Only when I need to meet that level of energy being handed out.

Although I do find that dunking ones self in the trash headfirst is a great reset. Usually after dealing with people on forums.

You talk that trash - you can take it too. If you don't like it or don't want to deal with it, give it the ole Dr. Evil treatment and zip it.

You'll notice I don't tell you that anything you've said is trash? Or you should put yourself or your ideas in the trash?

That's what makes us different. I just don't talk to people like that, even if I don't like their project, stance or work. You on the other hand, like to just hand out shit talking on forums and expect nothing in return. Odd.

I never used the "t" word, not even once. You did!

    I merely quoted your words.

    Funny huh
