“All server specifications are increased by 100 times”
At 3 am, a process called 666 had a spike for 6 seconds. Later on, I've found out that the vps shows as paid for 666 years.
Should I open a ticket or leave it like that?
Note: I don't want to participate for giveaway.
When htop shows 100% CPU on a box running nothing but a blank nginx page — and the uptime resets itself at exactly midnight. Thanks for the giveaway, Hostishere! 🎃
I'd know it's possessed when my 2GB VPS suddenly runs perfectly fine with way too many things open, and the only thing in the logs at 3am is just "boo". Honestly I'd probably just let it stay, at least something on my server finally works at night.
First sign: uptime resets to 3 days every night at 3:33 AM — but last still shows a login from a TTY that doesn't exist. And the disk fills with a single 666 KB file named daemon.log that contains nothing but my own SSH key fingerprint.
The first sign? My monitoring graph flatlines at exactly 3:33 AM every night, the fans start whispering through cron jobs, and uptime proudly shows 666 days. It also keeps ordering garlic through the API. 🧄💀
First sign it's possessed: at 3 a.m. my uptime monitor says 100%, but htop shows a process called 'ghost' using 100% CPU that I never started — and it keeps whispering 'boo' in the logs.
The first sign?
topshows a process calledghostdeating 666% CPU — and every time I kill -9 it, it respawns and writes 'nice try' into my syslog.I tried running kill -9 on the ghost process, but it just spawned an uncaught exorcism 😂
All vps come with a shared 10 Gbps connection. There is no fixed bandwidth cap, but speeds may vary depending on network utilization
The server reboots at midnight, then insists it never went down.
First sign of possession: my VPS starts showing 666% CPU usage at 3 AM, and every log file just says "let me out".
There are many pumpkins on the screen 🎃🎃🎃 and text: You are won a new computer!
Why was the VPS scared of Halloween traffic?
Too many trick-or-treat requests!
A haunted data center with 0% uptime.
glws happy halloween
Error: 404 Not Found. But Host Is Here.
My monitoring would page me at 3 AM because a process named 'ghost' is haunting the RAM — and
kill -9just replies 'nice try'. 👻logs show a login from root@localhost at a time your server didn’t exist yet.
First sign: uptime still 100%, but every ping comes back at 666ms and the logs write themselves at 3am.
My VPS started whispering 'boo' in the logs at 3 AM and rebooting every time I checked uptime — definitely possessed!
The first sign: a process named "ghost" sitting in top at 66.6% CPU that nobody started, the logs filling up at exactly 03:33 every night with "who's there?", and every SSH login greeting me with "welcome back... we've been waiting for you." 👻
First sign: my uptime monitor would ping me at 3am saying the server is up, down, up, down, and then the logs would just say boo.
The first sign would be the fans spinning up at midnight all by themselves, even with zero traffic.
If my VPS got possessed on Halloween, the first sign would be
uptimeshowing 666 days — and my cron jobs starting to run at 3:33 AM by themselves, whispering "boo" into the syslog. 👻The first sign would be my monitoring going quiet at midnight — not because the VPS died, but because the ghost took over on-call duty and started replying to every ping with "boo" instead of "pong". Honestly, best uptime I've ever had! Thanks for the giveaway, Hostishere! 👻
First sign: a mystery cron job scheduled at 03:33 AM titled and top shows 66.6% CPU usage on a phantom process.
The first sign: pinging the server returns an answer from the void before the packet even leaves my local network.
I'm currently developing a website dedicated to sharing information about VPS hosting and other related topics. I'm in need of a powerful VPS for this project, so I hope I'll be the lucky one!
First sign it's possessed: I run apt upgrade and it replies "Are you sure? The last admin who upgraded me was never seen again." Then crontab -l shows a job I definitely didn't write, scheduled for 03:33 every night: rm -rf /hope
Thanks for the giveaway, Hostishere! 🎃👻
The first sign? My idle VPS suddenly starts mining by itself. Load average 6.66 at 3 AM, fans screaming, and
uptimejust says “help”.
