@jbiloh Does your Geekbench rating take into account the large differences between GB4 and newer GB benchmarks?
Indeed it does.
John, no offence... but how many times one has to unsubscribe from your newsletters, to actually be unsubscribed? No disrespect, but I personally do not care about your emails and to be honest, I actually find them annoying... as much as I find Cryptomus and Cogent spam annoying.
Last letter was "ServerVerify Monthly Brief: August Update, 10,000 Benchmarks, and Market Signals" - again, no interest to me whatsoever; I have not even registered on there, you seem to have imported my data without my consent (GDPR breach, as I am an EU citizen afterall and have not agreed to anything ServerVerify while signing up on LET).
I could drop *@lowendbox.com for sure, but I kinda expect some moral sense from someone demanding moral sense along the community.
The email system is Sendy and it should be honoring unsub requests.
Pm me your email and I'll check it out.
... ... MOAR YABS
speaking of YABS @AlteredParadox
Just DM'd you, please check when you can.
ServerVerify turned 1 this week.
A year ago we launched it with the LowEndTalk community in mind, and a lot of what exists today came directly from feedback here.
Since launch we’ve passed 10,000 benchmarks and 1,600 reviews, and added provider comparisons, recommendation data, Value Index, Insights, advanced search, leaderboards and a lot more.
It has come a long way in 12 months. And there is more to come in the year ahead.
Thanks to everyone here who has benchmarked a server, left a review, suggested a feature, found a bug, or helped us improve it.
Another month. MOAR YABS!
You're at 919 benchmark submissions, almost to 1K now!
Someone's earned a Resident ServerVerify Benchmarker tag.
Seems like a good move!
1000!
Am i missing something blisteringly obvious or is there not yet a filter to conStRain number of cpu or amount of ram?
Sure a 32c96r vps will get high marks. When shopping for 2c4r this is horribly unhelpful
I do see the sliders in advaced
But
I can only drag cpu down to 11. Moving ram is tricky. It has a high affinity for zero or hundreds
Can we haz a text entry option please?
Wow, that is super impressive.
You have one heck of a VPS fleet.
Thanks for pointing this bug out. We are working on it.
very good to use
This should be resolved.
If you have any suggestions let us know!
Email benchmarking when? /s
Still curious if you imported people's data without asking how was he getting emails in the first place, this is indeed a EU GDPR breach.
That's all I did. Sent straight to spam.
Yeah, that is exactly what he did, (else how could my data get there?) but I doubt we can expect him to say the truth. Someone with morals would not have done it in the first place.
LowEndTalk, LowEndBox and ServerVerify are all owned and operated by the same company, WNY IT Services Inc. ServerVerify was built as an extension of the existing LowEnd ecosystem. When we launched it, we imported the historical benchmarks publicly posted on LowEndTalk and created corresponding user records so those benchmarks could be properly attributed.
Our Terms and Privacy Policy explicitly describe the three sites as a unified platform and explain that information and user content may be shared, aggregated and cross published between them.
So yes, data moved from LET into ServerVerify. What I disagree with is characterizing that as though we secretly handed user data to some unrelated third party company. We did not.
The unsubscribe issue is separate. Our mailing system is supposed to honor unsubscribe requests, and we take those requests seriously. If someone receives an email after unsubscribing, send me the affected address privately. We will investigate it and correct any problem we find.
I will open a porn site in the upcoming months under the same SRL as our main brands.
Do you say its ok to just import the clients without their consent?
No, because that is obviously not an equivalent situation.
ServerVerify was created as an extension of the existing LowEndTalk/LowEndBox hosting ecosystem. The information involved was directly related to that ecosystem, including historical hosting benchmarks that users had publicly posted on LowEndTalk, and the relationship between the properties is disclosed in our Terms and Privacy Policy.
Opening an unrelated adult website under the same corporate entity and importing hosting customers into it would be an entirely different purpose and use of their information.
Being owned by the same company is not, by itself, the point I was making. The relevant point is that ServerVerify is a closely related service built around the same hosting community, content and functionality, and our policies specifically address how data and content may be used across those properties.
Comparing ServerVerify to importing hosting customers into a porn site doesn't meaningfully describe what happened here.
It is not. You have basically used our data for a totally different scope than what we agreed with. At least, to my knowledge, LET did not had any clause saying: "You hereby agree with your data being used for any project MYCOMPANY LLC will launch since signup until armaggeddon".
I am pretty sure that, if you reach out to your lawyer, especially dealing with EU persons, he/she will confirm my point.
More than that, you as an US company are obliged that, when dealing with EU entities, to have a subsidiary company registered in any EU state and ONLY that EU company to handle EU customers data; on EU servers.
So, currently, you have multiple GDPR violations and some EU regulations.
Last thing you'd need is a mass EU-users lawsuit for processing their data on US servers with US entity, without an EU subsidiary.
I know you don't like it, but it does require (a) a lawful basis and prior notice under Art. 13(3) before reusing LET data for a new purpose, (b) an Art. 27 EU representative unless exempt, and (c) a valid Chapter V transfer mechanism (DPF or SCCs). Which of these does ServerVerify rely on, and when was the privacy policy updated to cover it?
A U.S. company is not required to create an EU subsidiary merely because it has EU users, nor does GDPR require all EU user data to be stored only on servers physically located in the EU. In some cases a non EU company may need an EU representative, but that's very different from establishing an EU subsidiary. There are also established mechanisms for legally transferring personal data outside the EU.
Likewise, GDPR does not require explicit consent for every processing activity. Consent is one legal basis, but it isn't the only one.
As for ServerVerify, I've already explained what we did. It is part of the same LowEnd ecosystem, operated by the same company, and our Terms and Privacy Policy address data and content use across the properties.
On a more productive note, I actually took a look at ServerSpan and I like the website and what you're building. Rather than spending too much time arguing with me about ServerVerify, I'd encourage you to figure out how you can leverage it, for free, to help ServerSpan. Get the company properly represented, contribute real benchmarks, encourage actual customers to leave honest reviews, and use the data to demonstrate where you're competitive.
You’re deciding what counts as an “equivalent” use, but the issue isn’t whether ServerVerify and LowEndTalk are related businesses. It’s whether the data was used for a purpose users were told about, and whether that further use meets the GDPR’s requirements.
You may not HAVE to follow GDPR in your country, but if you open the doors to EU citizens you must, I respect what you have built @jbiloh but sometimes your plan flat wrong.
"Consent may not be the only possible lawful basis, but there still needs to be a lawful basis, and the reuse must comply with purpose limitation and transparency requirements. If personal data collected for LET was later used for ServerVerify, Article 13(3) requires notice of the new purpose before that further processing, unless users already had that information. Publicly posting a benchmark also doesn’t automatically make the account information used to create or populate a profile fair game for any related service. "
I’m not claiming consent is the only possible lawful basis. I’m asking what basis you relied on, what exact notice LET users received about this specific sharing and purpose, and when they received it. Publicly posting a benchmark may explain using that benchmark; it doesn’t, by itself, explain importing the poster’s account details or email address. Please point to the specific wording that covered those things at the time of the transfer Serverify do not mention cross-platform sharing and these sites have a totally different usecase regarldess if you want to try categorise them as the same rather than Andreix Porn site comparison.
@Andreix did you receive notice, I never did. - https://commission.europa.eu/law/law-topic/data-protection/information-business-and-organisations/principles-gdpr_en
I truly repsect @Andreix having the balls to say it, don't think it's punishable or a big deal, I think @jbiloh you have some ToS to update if this is how you operate, and you need to notify all users. (Not just in future, that this has occured, with an option to withdraw data, GDPR REQUIRES ability to delete all data, not does this not seem possible it's an impossible juncture if you do not know ur data was re-used.
^ Unless you can confirm with proof when an LET account is deleted Serververify is deleted too.
SIde node: Not to be a dick you got lucky with the community here, you can build and go into anything you picked YAB's output website that can be made by claude in 30 seconds. Of which has 3 users posting 99% of results. I don't get it you have the chance to move mountains yet you're throwing pebbles.
"100%
INFRASTRUCTURE UPTIME" - also who the f are we lying too, not ur fault but DDoS is downtime, this site goes down more than my grandma taking an elevator.
I’ve now found the LowEndBox policy dated September 22, 2025. It does describe the three sites as a unified ecosystem and says information and content may be shared or cross-published. So I can’t say the currently posted policy is silent on cross-site sharing. But that doesn’t show what wording was in effect, or presented to me, when I signed up for LET or before my data was imported. And the ServerVerify policy and Terms don’t clearly specify that LET account emails or account details were imported. Please identify the policy version and exact notice that applied at the time, and clarify exactly which data was transferred. (Don't forget regardless of a valid ToS Europe's GDPR does not care and for such actions requires user's to be notified)
I am not interested in promoting ServerSpan on your platform; merely because I stopped offering a-la-carte hosting services.
ServerSpan is taking orders only selectively and only from business professionals. Your major user-base is not the segment we define as potential clients.
But again, my idea stands: any other LowEndWhatever you'll open from now on, will forcefully sign us up? Will assume on our behalf that we're interested in?
Nope; someone assumed I am ok with it, on my behalf, without my express written consent.
