and here are Trustname's more non-ethical business tactics:
from their own page:
I checked on my other accounts on Trustname with no domain registered, and i received their mail about this. But on other accounts with 3 registered domains, i dont received any mail regarding this notices. Is this weird?
TrustName customer files new lawsuit in Verisign’s home court
https://domainnamewire.com/2026/09/08/trustname-second-lawsuit/
yeah it seems weird. but i hope your 3 registered domains are still safe in your account and not got illegally transferred away from them by their employees. read trustpilot reviews and many customers have lost their domains.
looks like their main domain trustname.com and fewmoretaps.com already moved to Spaceship registrar. i dont think mine would last. i hope they wont touch it lol
if its not that valueable then they might not touch it. else it would have gone.
Happy Trustname de-accreditation day to those who celebrate!
Never trust 'bulletproof'. It an advertisement that they're willing to break the law.
(Legal free speech-supporting hosts are good though)
Yes
I hate to say so... But... Told ya.
It looks like ICANN is actively looking for a registrar to take over Trustname.com's domains.
Turkey? Seriosly?
Did you expect a well known major brand to want to take this kind of customers?
I was counting on the Western world, where people pay in dollars or euros and where the buttons in the customer control panel actually work.
A match made in heaven. https://www.trustpilot.com/review/atakdomain.com
Oh damn, I'm moving away from them. I had no idea it was such a hellhole.
A little about ATAK Domains. Some buttons in their control panel simply don't work. The domain transfer-out option is grayed out, with no underline or hover effect, but it's still clickable. And when you click it, the entire control panel interface becomes completely unresponsive at the JavaScript level.
It's basically a trap for anyone unfortunate enough to end up there. I have no idea what ICANN is doing about this.
That might just be because of ICANN's 60 day transfer cooldown. They have this thing where you can't transfer recently registered or transferred domains
yup! what made them to alot domains to Atak domain from Turkey?
Atak domain is seriously not reliable and trusted.
And they have tons of russians using it for all nasty things.
lol true. Atak domain is as worst as Trustname. Just read all the negative reviews about Atak. But its good for those hackers/spammer using Trustname. similar home. just the new street address.
Could you please explain how a provider's bad reputation and negative reviews make it easier to engage in shady activities using a domain registered with them?
If complaints arise, they'll be directed to the hosting provider, the reverse proxy operator, and ICANN. And ICANN can simply do to that registrar what it did to Trustname.
So what exactly is the advantage of using a registrar with a bad reputation?
What about when free speech is illegal? There are plenty of examples of things being illegal when they should be legal - and people in the grey area usually prefer hosts that will protect them even if the law changes.
A politically non-sensitive example, I hope: bitcoin/monero exchangers
IMO it's not a reasonable expectation of a host to shield customers when the free speech laws change. No host -- not even the big ones -- are able to realistically defend against a government legal action or authoritarian regimes. At that point, the only reasonable step for the customer is to proactively move their business (and themselves) to another jurisdiction that is compatible with the speech they want to make.
For instance, trying to run a LGBT adult site in Russia is a risky move, do that in US/EU instead.
You cannot transfer new domains (gtld) within 60 days but ICANN can in case of a de-acreditation.
Recently transferred domains (gtld) are allowed to be transferred again at any time, as per ICANN regulations. If your registrar prohibits you to do so that's their own made up rule.
(Edit: ICANN hast allowed this since 2016.)
However... When you transfer a domain within a 45 days period after last transfer your registration will not be extend by a year as you might be accustomed to. You will pay the same transfer fee. ICANN will refund the loosing registrar for previous transfer. 45-60 days will extend the registration period.
That being said. Atak is shit.
Just 17K domains... No big deal I suppose.
