How about we clarify. Shall I test this VPS? A bit irked to spend $8.11 on what I suspect will be a poor service, but maybe it is worth it to settle this.
Then state how much can I use 80%, 90% 5%?
Stop thinking as provider for 2 seconds, and think as a person buying your services for the main use of high-bandwidth as that's the real marketing value here. They don't want to be suspended or banned they want to know how much can be used.
Mediocre service? Our customers give us very good reviews; once again, you’re just spouting nonsense without knowing anything or bothering to get informed.
Actually we already had this discussion with Cloudblast. I'd argue that if you somehow have the supernatural physical capabilities to finish off the entire restaurant, it would be fair to do so. Restaruants must price according to what they can sustain.
But this comparison doesn't really work for bandwidth, it is physically impossible for most people to finish off an entire buffet. For a VPS, it is trivial to saturate a 10Gbps pipe - not something impossible for 99.99% of customers to do.
"bothering to get informed" -- perhaps it is impossible to get informed as to what your FUP is?
No, and this is a terrible example.
A single person can use an entire port, a single person can not each that much food one is impossible, one is not.
Reason that model works without lying, as the average person leaves them with healthy profit, your model is the exact same yet you need clarification as the majority are capable not the minority.
Sad part is, no one literally no one cares if you have a fair-usage policy, they prefer unmetered and the flexibility.
Think it's time for a LET "Ignorant" list too.
It’s quite straightforward: we generally allow whatever makes sense, and to date, none of our clients have had their usage throttled.
For basic use—such as a VPN or similar—it should be fine; however, other types of usage, like streaming, might prove more complicated.
What makes sense? It isn't straightforward if you can't define what makes sense. Before a customer pays, I'm sure they'd like to know if what they paid for would be arbitrarily throttled just because an employee of Infrawire decided that by their "quite straightforward" policy, the customer's usage "did not make sense"
In fact, overall, we consistently allow 30% of the VPS's authorized bandwidth (10 Gbps) to pass through.
OK finally a concrete number. So, I can sustain 3Gbps average, at a minimum? Why not just say this clearly?
Exactly, on a 10Gbps plan
But I cannot use the full advertised 10Gbps "unlimited ... unmetered" (as you state on the website) plan? Even though it is advertised as unlimited, and unmetered?
Is the IPv6 allocation a /64 subnet or just a single IPv6 address (/128)?
Hey,
/64
I think it might be better to get a VPS @averagedatahoarder. Alternatively, perhaps @infrawire could provide him with one so he can verify the results firsthand. That way, we can clear up any doubts and settle the discussion fairly.
This is plenty fair no one would argue, just state it or fair usage on the post simple.
As it currently stands, is is false advertisement.
