Because, the reason it's worked for so many years in every industry money. Might not apply to people who now have large enough user-base but for smaller, or those that want to try a new audience the deals will never ever end simply providers that offer them change.
You may not want 5,100. But there are providers that don't mind nor enjoy the constant headache to make sure the income is high enough.

I got mad just reading this.
I never had a case so bad in my life a couple of weeks ago. Before landing, they do a special announcement to say there's lots of tight connections, so put your hand up so you're identified and can get off the plane the fastest. About a dozen or more put our hands up and it looked like the whole plane acknowledged this.
From about two rows in front of me to the very back, nobody got in the aisles. For the first 15 rows, the aisle immediately blocked, everyone taking down their bags and taking their sweet fucking time. Everyone around me was just amazed at how cunty they all were and oblivious to the people frantically trying to get off. In my case, I was standing in the aisle super pissed off and anxious until my plane got delayed 2-3 more times. Fucking Denver.
Edit: oops, wrong scenario. I've really only seen one case in my life of a kid running down the aisle from the back of the plane as soon as he could. Until now, I thought he was just a jerk kid, but now I'm realizing he may have just had a tight connection.
