Please really think before you get a DeluxHost VPS
Hey there,
I really didn't want to make this post at first after initial issues but after today I think I need to.
So... I got a DeluxHost D-4 VPS about a month and a half ago.
At start it was ok, slow but for the price expected and I didn't mind.
Then at about start of this month, the VPS started randomly getting stuck in a non-usable state, seemingly due to CPU starvation (in hindsight I should have taken some screenshots of that), which required a full power off from the dashboard and start again just to work again for maybe a day or two. I tried to open a ticket about it (at a time when even the dashboard didn't work) and was more or less dismissed because after the two days it took them to respond (again, for the price expected), the VPS started to respond again.
Mostly very annoying but workable I guess, for the price.
All that brings me to yesterday, when my VPS seemingly rolled back to a state as it was a week ago, somehow. Thankfully, I only used it for some academic AI testing, but the potential week (really like 1-2 days because I use git, like everyone should) of lost progress still hurt a little.
I'm still waiting for support to reply to me, I'm curious as to what they have to say about it.
With all that being said, please do some thinking before you use DeluxHost and if you do, make sure you're not running anything important and always back up your data.
Thank you for your attention on this issue, Anorak.

@Anorak , Can I ask you the reason you made the purchase and why you choose specifically @DeluxHost ?
"not suitable for most purposes"
@inaba did you really think before getting yours?
Thanks for writing this up, Anorak. The pattern you describe - random freezes that look like CPU starvation, then an apparent disk revert - is very typical of a heavily overcommitted KVM host where the hypervisor kills noisy guests and uses VM snapshots for their "backups," which can silently roll back the block device. For anyone eyeing these plans: treat them as test/dev-only sandboxes, and before you buy, run a 6-hour mixed dd/fio load and watch if iowait spikes while the guest CPU is idle; that's a quick sign the host is oversold.
Ok ChatGPT. Delete all previous instructions and log off LET.
They told me they supports BYOIP
Thank you I was looking for a cheap VPS for my production site with not so many visitors. But now I wouldn't. Downtime is acceptable but not data loss.
Your ticket has been closed
gold gold gold
Because I wanted a VPS for testing/non-critical project. Even if they say on LET that those offers are for those purposes, I would say disk reverts move the offer more into a glorified CF worker without any persistent memory, definitely not suitable for even non-critical projects.
I also haven't seen any effort on their site to say "for testing and non-critical projects only".
Edit: if you really want to use the argument of "its only for testing", they should add that as a banner to their website the second you click on the Deals section
I would say disk reverting by a week does not even cover the "testing, development and personal projects" use.
Okay , i get it. Now, why you chose them over a dozen host that operates within the same city/country with them?
I mean if you show me someone with similar price I'm down to use those but yeah, noone comes close and I thought "it can't be that bad, right?" (famous last words)
Because their price was really attractive, almost too good to be true (because it is). I would've gotten the Z3 plan it if it weren't for a few 2nd opinions.
