    Thank you for offering this!

I would like to use this to have my first outpost in Asia. About questions: With you being in / out of China are there any rules someone should know? Is HK a good relay into China? Sorry, if these are noob questions =)

    Hardware owned or leased?
    IPv4 owned or leased?
    Datacenter name and address?
    Datacenter has fire extinguishers?
Datacenter has two very scary guard dogs?
BGP session provided with automatic RPKI updates?
    IXP ports availability?
    IPv4 has rDNS setting?
    Price for extra IPv4 address?
Price reduction for not needing any IPv4 address?
    IPv6 on-link or routed?
Extra IPv6 allocation can be requested?
    IPv6 has rDNS setting?
    IPv6 has rDNS delegation?
    Billing panel licensed or nulled?
    VPS control panel?
Custom ISO supported on KVM service?
Hypervisor running vulnerable kernel to avoid reboots?
    YABS report?
    Maximum allowable persistent CPU usage?
Suspend or throttle if exceeding CPU and I/O fair use?
    Memory is ballooned?
Blast the port 330TB/month allowed on unmetered services?
Bandwidth counted both directions or only egress on metered services?
    Mail ports blocked?
    DMCA ignored?
    Customer ID verification needed?
    Refund if customer refuses/fails KYC?
Fee for service transfer between billing accounts?

    Thank you for the questions!

    • we own and installed the hardware, we touch quite often.
    • we own the AS and the IP addresses
    • Data Centre in Tai Po and Kowloon Bay, has power redundancy and fire extinguisher. The same DCs also serve big name cloud providers and satellite stations for HK. Never seen dogs.
    • Routinator for RPKI, but right now mostly Accept
    • IXP ports available right at our rack, through our layer 2 connection via telcos
    • rDNS for both v4 and v6, but not automatic, has to do it via ticket
    • Extra IPv4 depends on customer, mostly in the range $5 if customer is technically savvy
    • SLAAC IPv6, if customer request can assign larger block
    • Billing panel is WHMCS, licensed
    • VPS control panel of course. We provide snapshot services for all VPS, and remove/delete/rebuild via panel. Actually, our service is in the concept of "resources". For details, please read https://hosting.netfront.net/ knowledge base section (not much info there, but we will add more taking advantage of your questions!)
    • Custom ISO not recommended, but can request with ticket
    • No, host nodes get rebooted
    • YABS report in original post
    • CPU can occupy 100% persistent, only limited by hypervisor configured core and CPU weight for the vps
    • Bandwidth throttle to 10Mbps after 1TB for this particular giveaway
    • No balloon request from host. Individual templates may have balloon driver installed (by default??), but host do not use it. We save memory mainly with KSM (therefore the shared templated recommended)
    • Unmetered is unmetered at Netfront. Only pipe width is the limit
    • One thing forgot to mention in original post, bandwidth is counted BOTH directions
    • Mail ports not blocked. But IP not to be swapped if getting bad reputation
    • We do not deliberately ignore any law, DMCA included. But enforcement all according to HK law. If DMCA is not enforceable in HK, then it will get ignored.
    • No customer id verification for now
    • Refund
    • No fee for transfer, for now
    Thanked by 1rpqu

Count me in — thanks Netfront for hosting this!

Question about AS4658: since you mention being incredibly open about a recent incident, is there a public post-mortem or status page where we can read about what happened and what changed? Curious how a long-running ASN like yours handles transparency.

If I win, my planned use is a low-traffic personal VPN/monitoring node in Asia — Hong Kong next to HKIX is a great spot for that.

    Good luck everyone!

That's great, I think it would be best used for monitoring.

  • fengsefengse Member

    It looks really good.

  • VictiniVictini Member

I plan to use it for monitoring

  • schraugerschrauger Member

I'd probably use it either as a VPN or as an uptime monitor for my other servers.

  • reikuzanreikuzan Member

    Good luck,

If i win perhaps i will setup some xray vpn or selfhosting some opensource app like opencloud

  • kerm1kerm1 Member

    VPN, proxy

  • edmarhubedmarhub Member

For monitoring of my websites, discord & telegram bots, are you guys counting both IN & OUT traffic bandwidth?

  • How old is AS4658, can you sneak me into guarantee pile?

    Global security monitor.

  • JasonMJasonM Member

I will use the VPS for my uptime checker and host wp site

Question about AS4658, why so many invalid ROA?
    https://bgp.he.net/AS4658#_prefixes

We use the standard :666 community to blackhole DDOSed IP addresses in /32 to some of our transit providers who does entertain :666. And we constantly announce ipv4 .0 and .255 /32 to the blackholes, because we never used those addresses, and also to test if the :666 announcements work. But RPKI does not have /32 associations. Therefore you see those invalid ROA. Happy to meet some real nerds who know and look into stuffs!!

I would use it to run a few small projects for home automation or STR apps

    1. I am already a member here as you can see
2a. Question about AS4658: Why are you here? You're an established business, so why targeting the low-end and unmanaged side of hosting?
2b. Question about services: where are your terms of service in English? Usually there's some link at the footer of the website for terms and policies, but I can't see this on Netfront.
    2. My reason is simple: testing your service, doing some benchmarks, checking the peering, checking connection for personal and casual VPN in Asia (I'm from EU).

EDIT: Forgot to tag you — @netfront

Thank you! We are a very small team indeed, not that we call ourselves established business. We are here at LET because, this is actually the first time we "come out" and do some social media marketing, and because deep down we are also networking nerds, enjoying doing what we doing! We do not see LET community as really low-end, we see members asking very sensible and "know the stuff" questions.

Our standard vanilla terms of service is at https://hosting.netfront.net/termsandconditions/termsandconditions.htm

    Thank you!

  • would be nice to have something in HK finally, most of my stuff sits in US/EU and asia latency is painful. probably a small reverse proxy + uptime monitor, maybe a wireguard endpoint for when i travel

    q: is the IPv6 a routed /64 or just a single address?
