Japan KVM/VPS, where to look for?

Budget: Approx $15/yr
1+ vcpu
preferred 1GB ram, 512MB is a bit too tight but workable
like 20GB storage, enough for a debian and a dozen GB for spare
ipv4 and v6
location: Japan

Basically everywhere I look, it's either USA or Europe locations. I've heard greencloud's good but they are all sold out

You'll probably have to wait for BF to get something for that price. Even the best BF deal I got last year in Japan from ReadyDedis (their cloud.1g plan on 115.187.16.0/24) was $25/yr.

  • If Malaysia works for you (relatively low latency from Tokyo), I believe you might find another thread on this forum.

Last year, I managed to find a Rarecloud deal for something similar

A bit over 90ms for me (SVR4U to OrangeVPS and to ReadyDedis). Hong Kong might be better for latency (50ms).

Malaysia won't work for me. Because that's going to be my personal VPN. I got free student deals from microslop but they will soon be expiring, so maybe I'll get one of my friends on the bus to share the cost with me :disappointed:

Singapore is probably a bit easier than Malaysia, both basically next to each other

Edit: He joined the deal, total budget is now somewhere around 25-30/yr

I don't think you'll find a Tokyo server for anywhere around $15/y now, even if you wait for black friday, honestly. I will do one in Tokyo for $36/y for you if you want.

Why not wait for Black Friday?

  • Maybe this budget will only be met on Black Friday.

At $25–30/year, I'd prioritize network quality over storage or extra RAM. A Tokyo VPS with decent routing and a stable IPv4 address would be a great Black Friday deal.

  • Alice seems good but billed by the GB.
Nube had their host rep suspended, not a good sign.

Maybe until Alice got better packages. I do like their mascot tho.

    What counts as "decent routing"?

Alice has traffic freebies, which should be enough for light workload

  • What about Vultr Tokyo?
