UptimeRobot Raised Pricing by ~62% Any one got Email?
Got email from Uptime-Robot that the $8/mo plan went to $13/mo (that is $96 to $156 a year). The reason cited was they build a MCP server and rebuilt dashboard and apps. But hey, AI can vibe-code it for you. Why bill clients by making plans sooo expensive like ~62% price hike.
I can accept a plan going from $8 to $10 if there are major new features introduced. but having nothing useful to pay for such increase make me think to move on from them to better and more afforable competitors.
Also, their email ended with: "You don't need to do anything. The new price applies at your renewal automatically."
wow... all i have to do now is "cancellation on renewal"

I guess everyone now wants to ride this AI rollercoaster and put caviar on the bread. Sad but this is reality. Probably cancel and move on to another provider or self-host.
it's okay, i only use their 5 minutes free alert
They're counting on the big customers to increase their profit. It's clear from their home page they have a lot of big companies willing to pay for the convenience of outsourcing monitoring. But yeah surprising still since it can be easily built now days with AI.
Monitoring software can be built by LLM, but monitoring infra - not. It is simply not viable to have multiple servers in various places on earth to monitor some pr0n pages. The burden of maintenance is not worth 156$/year. Corpos will gladly pay that after increasing their own price and transfering increased pricing on end-customer.
same,
I haven't got an email yet, but I use their free account with 5 mins update.
Anyway, for 10 bucks/y I use CaliberNode with uptime kuma. Cheaper.
For me, HetrixTools (aff/non-aff) does the job on everything I need to monitor.
check uptimepage.dev
Still using their free plan...
are their paid tiers more reliable than the free service?
No but you can monitor at shorter intervals and have some more advanced options + more monitors.
lol 62% for a dashboard reskin and an MCP
i build uptimepage.dev, open source, free plan does 50 monitors at 60s from 5 regions, MCP included
any questions ping me
quite liking uptimepage.dev so far thanks for your service
Custom domains for status pages when?
already live, pro plan. CNAME to me, email [email protected] with the hostname and i set it up. by hand for now, form comes later. self-host has it too
glad you like it. bugs or wishes, ping me here or [email protected]
Uptimekuma on a cheap yearly vps
Running a public status page and monitoring server on a cheap yearly VPS isn't the best idea unless it's just to monitor your personal stuff. And there's better free options out there for that. Poor quality network and stability is pretty common on those and that's not what you want for a status/monitoring platform.
changed my mind, founding gets 1 custom domain free too. ping me at [email protected] with the hostname and ill add it
Make it three.
AI Vibe trash, and not allowed to advertise / sell without tag?
lol vibe coded shit. outsourcing monitoring needs a high level of trust and years of sold uptime of your own infra.
UptimeRobot infra is mostly DigitalOcean (one of ASNs that I block by default on my servers), Hetzner and some Amazon instances. I don't find it very sophisticated.
I don't think infra part is that hard? For example Hetrixtools just have bunch of cloud VPS mainly from Linode and Vultr (I guess good connectivity and network). Easy go resize if needed, the price is fine as well.
I doubt they need that much of resources per server?
hey bro, hows the torrent cloud going?
"I am obviously using the AI agents for speeding things up by letting it review, do security audits and offer architectural improvements, just like any competent dev. I am not "vibe-coding", if that's what you are asking."
you, sept 28
ai trash? 20 years backend, mostly c++. code is on github, read it before calling it trash. and im not here to sell, just answering questions
it's going fantastic, already got hundreds of beta users.
hmm.. will give a try.
Who are you bare face lying to, 20 years what? 20 years backed skill? means nothing to be code-base looks terrible, and AI.
The entire UI, AI, not even bothered to edit it yourself, look the style pages could not be more obvious.
When you advertise your product, as an alternative with a free-entry, but paid other options under a thread of a similar product that had a price increase, are you seriously going to say that's not trying to sell? You arrogant piece of shit.
ITT: Two vibe coders accusing each other of being vibe coders.
