UptimeRobot Raised Pricing by ~62% Any one got Email?

Got email from Uptime-Robot that the $8/mo plan went to $13/mo (that is $96 to $156 a year). The reason cited was they build a MCP server and rebuilt dashboard and apps. But hey, AI can vibe-code it for you. Why bill clients by making plans sooo expensive like ~62% price hike.

I can accept a plan going from $8 to $10 if there are major new features introduced. but having nothing useful to pay for such increase make me think to move on from them to better and more afforable competitors.

Also, their email ended with: "You don't need to do anything. The new price applies at your renewal automatically."

wow... all i have to do now is "cancellation on renewal"

  • I guess everyone now wants to ride this AI rollercoaster and put caviar on the bread. Sad but this is reality. Probably cancel and move on to another provider or self-host.

They're counting on the big customers to increase their profit. It's clear from their home page they have a lot of big companies willing to pay for the convenience of outsourcing monitoring. But yeah surprising still since it can be easily built now days with AI.

Monitoring software can be built by LLM, but monitoring infra - not. It is simply not viable to have multiple servers in various places on earth to monitor some pr0n pages. The burden of maintenance is not worth 156$/year. Corpos will gladly pay that after increasing their own price and transfering increased pricing on end-customer.

    same, :D

  • I haven't got an email yet, but I use their free account with 5 mins update.

Anyway, for 10 bucks/y I use CaliberNode with uptime kuma. Cheaper.
