If you are ok with bad uptime and slow support, ya you are good.

Storage server uptime exceeds 98% annually, furthermore, in Amsterdam, aside from the DDoS incident, the situation remains stable and under control on the network side.

But hey, we’re probably seeing things differently. 😄

It is easy to find people who complain, but often, when their problems are resolved, they certainly don't bother to write about it, similarly, those who have a good experience either can't be bothered or take it for granted and don't write anything at all, leaving only negative impressions behind.

But anyway, yes, support and many other things need to be improved.

That sounds good to me. Hopefully things continue to improve, especially on the support side. Wishing you guys the best of luck and better service going forward. 😄

Right now, for backup, I'm trying out five different providers with five different approaches to find something stable and worthwhile.

Want to share your list of providers and the insight of the disk performance?? I am also trying to find what can work for us and so far, having a hard time :)

80% uptime fine by me. I dont host anything

The I/O performance, especially the HDD speeds, is honestly more concerning. You probably should’ve spent some of that time checking what other customers on the same package are saying and taking a good look at the YABS results. 😅

Sad, I just checked the recommendations in this thread and bought it instantly. Its only a $1.67/month package, but still, a dollar is a dollar. 😔

That is how they get you: the pricing. But if your target is just dumping backups or something similar, look into HostBrr StorageBox (FTP and rsync are available), as they offer a $7.70/year 500GB storage box; you can mount it or expose it via SFTP with rclone, then use Restic or some other app.

Funny enough, I checked it out after your comment and the bf code still works on them.

  • +1 for HostBrr Storage Box. I have 1 Storage Box and 1 Storage VPS from them. The disk performance on the VPS is not great but no problems with the Storage Box's disk or network performance.

  • yeah the storage box seems fine so far. My only complaint would be the clusterfuck of different sources you need to use to find the data you need. The address is on the panel, the ssh port is in the email. (well technically you can just rely on the email but i prefer domains instead of raw ips)

Well, the evaluations are still ongoing, and the other day I added a new provider; I might make a post regarding it, and I will let you know in this thread if I do.

They tend to keep them open if they can accommodate the stock. 😅

I was about to buy their storage VPS, but then I thought, "Storage Box sounds fun," so I decided to test it. So far, I have had a good experience with them; the only negative thing is the location, as the latency is quite high.

Of course, but what will you store and what kind of files or data?

I think I still have that page open in several tabs. I am just not moving forward with it or committing to it for a whole year, as I have not tried your service before and the bandwidth seems a little low. My cron jobs for the backup snapshots will eat up the bandwidth in less than two weeks. 😅

  • Deluxhost Benchmark update:

    1 vCPU / 2 GB RAM / 500 GB storage

    CPU: ~2.65M ops/sec
    Sequential write: ~41 MB/s
    Sequential read: ~31 MB/s
    Random 4K: 28 IOPS

The 500 GB storage is quite slow, especially random I/O. 20,000 random 4K reads took over 12 minutes.

For $1.67/mo and my use case of temporary MySQL dumps/storage, it's still usable, but I wouldn't recommend it for database workloads requiring decent disk I/O.

No issues with stability so far. Uptime is ~1 day 23 hours.
