Guys, what about the fact that dasabo sent me, as I think you did, an email asking me to leave a short review, and he'll credit my Trust Pilot account with €2 for the review. Isn't that specifically prohibited by Trust Pilot's rules?

Desperate times really do call for desperate measures

I asked Google AI what happens for inflated reviews or attempts to buy reviews. There are a whole host of penalties there. Removal from the platform, as well as sanctions and fines from government regulators. I'll get to it tomorrow. I suggest everyone join in. We didn't start this war!

_Yes, Trustpilot guidelines strictly prohibit writing or offering reviews in exchange for rewards. Incentivized reviews are banned entirely. Businesses cannot offer money, discounts, promo codes, free gifts, loyalty points, or entry into a raffle/sweepstakes in exchange for a customer posting or changing a review.
If a provider violates the Trustpilot Guidelines for Businesses, they face a cascade of severe penalties:

    Penalties and Sanctions for Providers

    • Removal of fraudulent reviews: The platform's automated detection algorithms and Content Integrity Team will permanently delete any reviews flagged as paid or incentivized.
    • Suspension of invitation features: Trustpilot can temporarily or permanently block the provider's access to the automated review-invitation tools.
    • Consumer Warning Banner: Trustpilot will place a prominent, public warning badge on the company’s profile page. This alerts users that the provider has been caught manipulating ratings or purchasing fake reviews. The company's TrustScore is also hidden while the banner is active.
    • Termination of Business Contracts: If the provider has a paid premium subscription, Trustpilot has the right to terminate the contract immediately without issuing a refund.
    • Permanent Ban (Profile Removal): For repeated or extreme policy violations, the company's business profile can be completely and permanently banned from the directory.
    • Legal Action by Trustpilot: The platform regularly takes legal action and files lawsuits against companies and click-farms that engage in review manipulation to protect its brand integrity.
    • Regulatory Fines: Under modern consumer protection laws (such as the DMCC Act in the UK or the FTC rules in the US), misleading practices can trigger external financial penalties of up to 10% of a company's global turnover for unfair competition.

No, that's allowed as long as he doesn't provide an incentive for writing a good review. If he still gives you €2 even if you rate him 1 star, then he's not breaking any rules.

    I stand corrected.

Dasabo's SEO is going to absolutely love this thread. Now we just wait for the mods to start receiving the inevitable legal threats from Dasabo :p

On OGF, he actually sent a cease-and-desist to C1V Hosting because they offered to price match anyone who was kicked out of Dasabo. :D

I beg to differ, Google AI provides evidence

_Yes, this email grossly violates the Trustpilot Guidelines for Businesses in several ways.
In this message, Dasabo is openly using prohibited methods to manipulate its rating. Here are the specific violations:

    1. Direct Bribery (Incentivized Reviews)

    • In the email: “As a small thank you, we will add a €2 credit to your account...”
    • What the rules say: Trustpilot strictly bans any form of compensation for reviews. The guidelines explicitly state that businesses are not allowed to offer discounts, promo codes, account credits, gifts, or any other bonuses in exchange for writing or editing a review.

    2. Requesting Proof and Forcing De-anonymization

    • In the email: “Please let me know once you’ve left your review by opening a support ticket and attaching a screenshot or the link...”
    • What the rules say: The company forces the client to reveal their identity to support to claim a "reward." Trustpilot protects reviewer privacy and strictly prohibits businesses from conditioning payouts or perks on providing screenshots or links to reviews.

    3. Biased Language (Selective Filtering/Cherry-picking)

    • In the email: “If you have been happy with our service so far, we would be very grateful if you could leave us a short review.”
    • What the rules say: Review invitations must be completely neutral. Phrasing like "If you are happy, leave a review" is a violation because it selectively targets satisfied customers while steering away unhappy ones, artificially inflating the company's TrustScore.

What happens if you report this email?

If you forward this text or a screenshot of this email to the Trustpilot Content Integrity Team, severe actions will be taken against Dasabo:

    1. All reviews obtained through this campaign will be permanently deleted.
    2. A prominent Consumer Warning banner will be placed on Dasabo's Trustpilot profile page, stating that the company has been caught buying reviews. This is a massive blow to the reputation of any hosting provider.

Not reading all that slop but you could have just posted a link to the guidelines (or called me an idiot and pointed me to the previous link the slopbot posted, which would have been equally valid). I had misremembered.

Anyway, take screenshots of Dasabo's offer as evidence.

  • Yes, of course, I'm posting links to these rules. I'd like to point out, unfortunately, that some of these rules state that they are "advisory in nature." I apologize if the links aren't formatted very well, I'm writing from a mobile phone.

Consumer Warning Banner: This is one of the most painful sanctions. A large, bright banner appears on the provider's Trustpilot page, informing users that the company has been caught manipulating ratings and purchasing fake reviews. While the banner is displayed, the company's TrustScore (overall rating) is often hidden.

I suggest everyone check their mailboxes and notify Trust Pilot.

I suppose you should post a negative review, sue him for your $2, and then forward the email to Trust Pilot.

I personally didn't write any reviews, so I don't need a €2 refund. I purchased a VPS for a three-year period, and at the time of purchase, there was no KYC requirement. The KYC demand was introduced during my second year of use, affecting me and other users. Dasabo should have honored the original three-year contract before enforcing KYC for future renewals. That is why Dasabo's actions are unfair

Exactly. This is not just a review, but a formal complaint against Dasabo on the Trustpilot platform—it's the only real recourse we have in response to their actions. It's simple: every action has a reaction. Submitting a notice about them violating the platform's rules is different from a standard review, as it ensures they will be flagged for the violation. I suggest everyone who received this email about paying for reviews file a personal complaint and include a screenshot of the email

I already left a review on Trustpilot about a week ago..

Anyway, could you DM me a screenshot of the Dasabo message where they offer €2 in exchange for a review?

Once Trustpilot find out they now put a note on your profile to say what they found to basically say any reviews may have been bought in one way or another.

I know it used to happen a lot but now they take a hard stance and make it a clear hard rule more than they did a few years back

    Hi,

... simply make an honst review and mention that you got 2 EUR promised by the provider for it.... or will this bring you into issues with your account on trustpilot ( no idea how this works, never cared about it )

Wouldn't surprise me at all if Trustpilot bans you for that. They ban legit users too, I was banned for "we were able to link it to networks that buy and sell fake reviews" when my reviews were all legit, I even offered to KYC and then they started ghosting me lol.

    Hi,

well... ouch... afterall thats all quiet sad and annoying. I also heard that negative google reviews just vanish.

I assume that if the company is just pushing enough against a review, the platform will just remove it to avoid legal issues as i assume in worst case the platform would have to proof at court that this review is legit and true....

It is fine, trustpilot is not very trustworthy anyway but I would leave an honest feedback if my relationship with a particular provider is good. Btw, need to leave a feedback for xhosts
