It is, love it, will never get rid of it. Has plenty of HDD bays for a nice nas. Rather large and heavy though.
Yeah, they're amazing. I don't recommend filling it with SAS drives and no proper cooling, like I did, though LOL

do i really need a case? i just connect everything straight to the motherboard, put the HDDs on the floor, and boot the OS from an external USB NVMe
I did the same, the airflow is a bit rubbish, but it works well for what I need.

If were doing the math right: 800 TB ÷ 20 GB = 40,000 VPSes. At $7 each, that’s $280K/month. 80,000 vCPUs
No need to worry about networking during a power outage. Battery says “we’re good.” Server says “I’m dead.” All powered by a $10 AliExpress Xeon Gold 6138 and some no name Chinese motherboard.

I’d never even heard of Chia before. just dealing with 8K footage, and workloads more like AI training or big data analytics. It’s actually around 2PB now.
i dont think the home datacenter idea is gonna work. in sri lanka, home hosting or running it as a small datacenter is illegal without the right licensing, and you even need isp/osp approval. the logic just doesnt work out here.
one ip is around $10, 1gbps is around $800 and usually only gets 300-700mbps, not guaranteed. colocation is barely better, 100mbps max, or around $1k for 1gbps. 10gbps is like $100k. ( Mostly shared. )
for reference on how bad local pricing actually is, the cheapest sri lankan vps on the market right now runs about rs. 63,125.00/month ( $212 usd/month) for just 1 vcpu, 2gb ram, 40gb high io disk, 1 sri lankan ip, and only 10mbps. thats the actual local baseline
then running a node with 2x e5 v4, 256gb ram, and reselling it as say 2 vcpu / 4gb ram / 50gb ssd vps instances, without even counting hardware cost, its a loss. 100mbps would probably make some profit, but who is buying a vps where the whole node only has 100mbps?
the only thing that could actually work is residential ip servers. it is not illegal if look at the law here. but it would cost around $30 for a 100mbps dedicated line, plus running vps behind nat, since the ip does not change until the router itself goes off.

Like another guy said the biggest consideration is ISPs. You'll need a fiber line and a business plan so you can BYOIP and ASN. Get a fiber line in the basement. If you get mixed transit from multiple ISPs that's a bonus.
There's a lot more than that to consider, if you're being serious.
Also of course have passion in what you're doing.

Monero fees are extremely low. You can certainly send one cent. Probably a lot less than one cent, actually.
i see, it became so convenient to use i just buy it with bank when i need it, not store any longer, rarely see XMR used compared to LT*/BTC sadly. Mostly a drug/darknet coin but solid at that.
