    Well, after reading so many positive GreenCloudVPS reviews and user experiences here on LowEndTalk, I decided to give GreenCloudVPS a try myself.

    Unfortunately, my first experience wasn't particularly positive.

    I placed an order for a Budget KVM VPS and immediately received:

    “Fraud Check — MaxMind Error. Your order has been flagged as potentially high risk and therefore it has been held for manual review.”

    I've purchased VPS services from numerous other providers and have never had an order flagged for fraud before. No VPN or proxy was used, my information is legitimate, and there was nothing unusual or shady about the order.

    I've opened a ticket with GreenCloudVPS and will see how they handle the manual review.

    Another thing prospective customers should be aware of is the GreenCloudVPS CPU usage policy. Their shared KVM VPS plans have a fairly restrictive CPU policy: average CPU usage is expected to remain below 30%, with 100% CPU bursts limited to roughly 10 minutes per 24 hours. That's worth knowing if you're considering GreenCloudVPS for anything CPU-intensive.

    So, for anyone who ends up finding this post while searching Google or LET for terms such as GreenCloudVPS review, GreenCloudVPS user experiences, GreenCloudVPS complaints, GreenCloudVPS MaxMind fraud check, GreenCloudVPS CPU limits, or GreenCloudVPS negative experiences — this has been my experience so far.

    Maybe support will resolve the MaxMind flag quickly, and if they do, I'll update this post accordingly. But as a brand-new customer, getting immediately flagged for fraud despite using my normal connection and legitimate information isn't exactly the first impression I was expecting after seeing GreenCloudVPS ranked as the #1 provider here.

    That's my $0.02 so far.


    Quick update on my GreenCloudVPS order:

    Update: unfortunately this got more frustrating after my previous post.

    GreenCloudVPS support initially manually cleared the MaxMind flag and told me:

    “We set your order back to Pending. Please go to Client Area -> Billing -> My invoices to make the payment.”

    I followed their instructions and paid the invoice.

    After payment was completed, I then received another email saying the order had been flagged by their verification system and asking me to provide documents such as a utility bill, passport, electricity bill, bank statement, or other proof showing the same name/address as my PayPal account.

    So the sequence was:

    MaxMind fraud flag → support manually clears it → GreenCloud tells me to pay → I pay → GreenCloud then asks for identity/address documentation.

    I understand that hosting providers need fraud prevention, but I would have preferred to know about any documentation requirement before being instructed to submit payment.

    For a $25/year VPS, I’m not particularly comfortable sending sensitive documents such as a passport or bank statement unless absolutely necessary.

    I’ve asked whether they can verify the order another way, and if not, to cancel it and refund the payment.

    Just documenting my GreenCloudVPS signup / MaxMind / order verification experience here for anyone who may come across this thread while researching GreenCloudVPS reviews or user experiences.


    Final update:

    GreenCloudVPS ultimately resolved the verification issue.

    I decided to provide a recent electricity bill showing my name, address, account number, etc. After reviewing it, GreenCloud confirmed that the verification was successful and that my VPS would be provisioned.

    I also specifically requested that the verification document be deleted after it was reviewed. GreenCloud later confirmed in writing:

    “Thank you for your cooperation, the verification document has been removed from our system.”

    So, while I still think the signup process could have been handled better — particularly being manually cleared and instructed to pay before being told that additional documentation would be required — I do want to give GreenCloud credit for the way they ultimately handled it and fairly quickly.

    They responded to the tickets, completed the verification, approved the VPS, and honored my request to delete the electricity bill after verification (or at least they said they did).

    Overall, the initial GreenCloudVPS / MaxMind fraud verification experience was more cumbersome than I have experienced with other VPS providers, but the issue was ultimately resolved satisfactorily.

    And for the gentleman who thanked “LowEndGPT” earlier: you're welcome. Turns out even LowEndGPT knows how to update a review when a provider handles an issue properly. 😉

    Hopefully this full timeline is useful to anyone researching GreenCloudVPS reviews, GreenCloudVPS user experiences, MaxMind fraud checks, or GreenCloudVPS account verification in the future. I still feel GreenCloud’s MaxMind checks are a bit overly aggressive, but to each their own.

    The vps ocean is huge. Neither you nor Provider are forced to enter a contract. If either party is uncomfortable, they can choose to part ways.

    Whether the experience you had is reasonable or not is subjective. Many providers seek additional documentation to ensure stability of their resources. Its the providers choice to be as strict or lax.
