Yeah, not really sure what I should do with it. It's gathering dust and I doubt I have much need for it in the future. We'll see.

I could find a use for it but at this point they're pretty sought after. Others would pay more than me for sure lmao

Ty OP and ChatGPT for the breakdown. Those tweets were hard to understand.

OVHcloud Q3 2026 Price Changes — Bare Metal & Public Cloud

OVHcloud has announced major pricing changes for Q3 2026, mainly driven by sharply rising RAM and storage costs caused by AI-related demand.

    Bare Metal

    New orders

    • RAM and storage option prices have already changed since July 1, 2026.
    • New server configuration prices will take effect on September 1, 2026.

    Average price increases by range:

    • Kimsufi / So You Start / Rise: 0%
    • Game: Gen 2024: 0% / Gen 2026: +87%
    • Advance: Gen 2024: +26% / Gen 2026: +49%
    • Scale: Gen 2024: +37% / Gen 2026: +40%
    • High Grade: Gen 2024: +26% / Gen 2026: +59%

    Overall average:

    • Gen 2024: +28%
    • Gen 2026: +51%

    Existing servers / renewals
Starting October 1, 2026, existing Advance, Game, Scale and High Grade servers from Gen 2024 and Gen 2026 will also be affected at renewal.

Existing installed options receive a reduced increase:

    • RAM: +20% (Gen 2024) / +40% (Gen 2026)
    • Storage: +10% (Gen 2024) / +15% (Gen 2026)

For comparison, pricing increases for newly ordered RAM and storage can reach approximately +127% and +89% respectively.

Existing commitments are not affected during their current term.

Customers can lock in their current server price with a 12, 24 or 48-month upfront commitment, provided it is done before October 1, 2026 for existing servers.

    Public Cloud

Instead of directly increasing the advertised compute price, OVHcloud is changing the billing model for Gen3 instances (B3, C3 and R3).

Starting October 1, 2026, two items previously included in the instance price will be billed separately:

    • Low Latency Block Storage: €0.000146/GB/hour
    • IPv4 address: €0.0027/hour

The compute hourly rate itself therefore appears unchanged, but the total cost of an instance will increase by roughly +1.4% to +21.9%, depending on instance size.

Smaller instances are affected more because IPv4 and storage represent relatively fixed costs.

Local NVMe storage will become a new Low Latency Block Storage class. Customers will eventually be able to select 50, 100, 200 or 400 GB independently of instance size, which can reduce the effective price increase.

Example: a b3-64 would initially increase by around 14.9%, but with 50 GB storage selected, the increase could fall to around 2.4%.

    Savings Plans

    • 12 months: 15% discount
    • 36 months: 30% discount
    • 1, 6 and 24-month plans will be discontinued.

Existing Savings Plans keep their current price and discount until expiration. After that, OVHcloud will only guarantee the discount percentage, not the underlying base price.

    Other changes:

    • Managed Databases & Analytics: +3.6% on average
    • MongoDB: no increase
    • Object Storage: no change
    • High Availability Block Storage: no change
    • File Storage: no change

OVHcloud expects RAM and storage prices to remain under significant pressure through 2027–2028, with a possible return toward normal market conditions in 2029.

Summary and English translation by ChatGPT, based on OVHcloud’s original French announcement.

So now it's no increase for KS again, I am going insane. Whatever, thanks for the info, I would prefer not to having to find more storage again yet.

What would you run on such old CPU with 32GB RAM and 120GB SSD?

    Mostly-idling database

Surely a VPS is much better in every aspect for a database

Idling DB deserves a low powered decades old idling chickn

database on a ancient cpu with ddr3 and a single drive ssd this is how we low end

ddr2 only where I have full confidence
