When would be a good time to buy VPS for long term?

Basically I want to prep for getting 1 or 2 semi-pernment VPS. It isn't urgent, and my current free Azure credits can last me until next year. When would be a good time to get onboard?

  • Black friday / thanksgiving seems to offer some of the best deals
  • Sometime near Christmas and new year
  • Or sometime in the coming months?

I don't have much budget, expecting recurring $20~25/year for both.

Specs

VPS A:

  • Preferred JP
  • 1-2vCPU; 1-2GB ram
  • Approx 10-20GB storage
  • 1 IPv4 address, IPv6 optional but very welcomed
  • >500GB bandwidth
  • >100Mbps perferred, hopfully having >500Mbps peak
  • IP not banned by the GFW

VPS B:

  • Location doesnt matter as much, but at this price point prob only US available
  • 3-4vCPU; 3-4GB ram
  • > 60GB storage, > 100GB preferred.
  • 1 IPv4 address, IPv6 optional but very welcomed
  • >500GB bandwidth
  • >200Mbps perferred, hopfully having >500Mbps peak
  • preferred good China connectivity

    Always Black Friday.

Black Friday through to new years, generally.

If you have particular providers in mind, some run sales at similar times each year pretty consistently. Green Cloud (who has some Japanese locations) do one on their birthday not long before Black Friday, mid October-ish. HostHatch late Q1’ish. etc.

    good mainland china connectivity
    $20-25/y for 2 server

Sigh. Not possible. Maybe if you move to Hong Kong, it's possible to get $7/y 1c1g JP + $18/y 4c4g

Now. Autumn will increase power prices and they will have excuse to increase prices again.

  • There is no better time to buy than when there are good offers available, that's when you should buy.
