DeluxHost Fraud / terrible VPS? Ignored my refund request, attempted to charge me again
I want to share my experience with DeluxHost so others can avoid them and decide for themselves.
I used to hosted all of my personal services (with local backup ofc) on DeluxHost. And as I access my services on web for my day to day work, so reliability was very important to me.
About 1–2 months after purchasing my Y-4 VPS, it started constantly getting stuck and becoming inaccessible every 2–3 days. I reported the issue to support and continued using the VPS, hoping they would fix it. I tolerated the repeated freezes for around 3–5 months before finally opening a ticket and asked for refund as the service had become unusable.
Instead of processing my refund, DeluxHost kept the ticket open for nearly one months. My refund requests were repeatedly ignored while I was asked to continue troubleshooting. As shown in the attached screenshots, I kept asking for a refund, but they largely avoided addressing it.
After a months on 14th July, DeluxHost terminated my Y-4 VPS and told me they issued a refund . However, instead of issuing the refund I had been requesting all along, they generated a new invoice and even attempted to charge my card again for the terminated VPS.
Over a week later, I then asked support why I was being billed again for a VPS that had already been terminated and Why the refund hasn't been received in my card. Rather than answering my questions, they terminated my running Storage-2 VPS and issued a refund for that VPS instead—even though I had never requested the Storage-2 VPS to be cancelled or refunded. My refund request was always for the Y-4 VPS, I even added screenshot for Y-4 VPS invoice that they tried to charge me.
In the end, I spent almost two months chasing a simple refund request while dealing with repeated downtime, ignored questions, confusing billing, and the unexpected termination of another VPS that was actively hosting my personal services. And They still haven't issued refund the VPS I requested for.
I cannot recommend DeluxHost based on my experience. If you rely on your VPS for important services, think twice before purchasing from them. My Y-4 VPS froze every 2–3 days for months, making it unreliable for hosting my services. Some friends of mine who also purchased VPSs from DeluxHost have told me they experienced similar freezing issues, although I can only speak from my own experience.
TL;DR:
1. My Y-4 VPS started freezing every 2–3 days after 1–2 months of use. I tolerated it for another 3–5 months while repeatedly asking support to fix it.
2. When the service became unusable, I requested a refund.
3. DeluxHost kept my refund request open for nearly a month, repeatedly ignoring my refund requests while asking me to continue troubleshooting.
4. They eventually terminated my Y-4 VPS, but instead of refunding it, they generated a new invoice and attempted to charge my card again for the terminated VPS.
5. When I asked why I was being billed again and why I had not received the refund, they ignored my questions, and deleted my other STORAGE-2 VPS.
6. In the end, they terminated/refunded my Storage-2 VPS, which I never asked to cancel or refund, causing me to lose all of my data and the personal services hosted on it.
7. I still have not received the refund for the Y-4 VPS that I originally requested after 2 months of troubles .
8. Based on my terrible experience, I don't recommend to buy from DeluxHost.

a drama, my favourite. . .mmmm
LOL LMAO
I actually did some backup in last few days.
kek
not surprised, sorry for your ordeal.
I hope you learned your lesson, and use more reputable providers next time like Charityhost and Veloxmedia
Ban deluxhost
They haven't done anything wrong besides having shitty uptime. That's not a bannable offense.
best we can do is stop buying from them while they pay LET $200 to advertise, hit 'em where it hurts!
Ban for what?
Can I get a TLDR of the TLDR?
VM stuck, ticket stuck, refund stuck, retried and now we're stuck with this thread.
TLDR of this TLDR of the TDLR
stuck problems
This is the same issue with anything involving dumb people without doing proper research.
Caveat emptor, quia ignorare non debuit quod jus alienum emit
Knee-jerk solution to ban the host because of piss-poor performance doesn't solve the real problem: dumb people.
I have good news OP. You're entitled to at least... *checks notes* 11 cents
In all seriousness, just move on to a better provider. It's a learning experience
My advice for anyone who can pay through PayPal is to do just that.
I also couldn't get a refund from DeluxHost through their ticket system. I kept getting stupid and meaningless messages from them. They didn't respond for more than three days, after which the ticket was closed. Basically, their promises here about easily issuing a refund are just another lie; all they know how to do is lie.
But I was able to get my money back for both servers only by filing a complaint with PayPal. This was my first time doing this; I've never needed a refund for any other service. And it was only thanks to DeluxHost that I learned how to do it.
I’m in the same boat: I bought a server from them that barely works, and they’re completely ignoring my requests for a refund. 37 euros down the drain.
Wtf do yall expect, so many lies on the website, claims that are never backed up with anything, how many times did he tell yall that he fixed the issue while it wasn't? Go cry in a corner you stupid regards.
TL;DR
Double bandwidth on order number 123456 plz
Adding my experience with DeluxHost, since it fits the pattern here almost exactly.
I've had a VPS with them for a while. The server kept losing network connectivity: first just packet loss and ping drops, then it would fall off the network completely, and only a full OS reinstall would bring it back. Support insisted the problem was on my end every single time. I have my entire setup documented step-by-step in Obsidian (it's a routine deployment for me), so I was doing the exact same install the exact same way each time.
Funny thing: after I posted a comment on LET, they suddenly migrated me to another node. Same OS, same setup, same steps from my notes and everything just worked. So much for "the problem is your configuration."
It was fine for a while, then came the DDoS attacks and other "incidents" with the network down again. In June they sent out a compensation email - choose a free technical bonus plus 7 days of service. I picked +1 vCore. That was July 13th. Since then:
So even their own compensation for their own outages is something they can't deliver, and the support strategy is to make the customer repeat the same pointless steps until they give up. Can't recommend.
what's your ticket number so we can ignore it one more month
If they have something to say, they should clarify the situation and address any concerns/issues with you guys, the community, not with us mods.
deluxhost is the worst hosting provider on let that i have ever used
lol wow! they're very polite though.
first provider i have ever used where SSH'ing would take minutes and YABS would crash before any test ran. Trying to write the YABS bash file to disk was minutes as well
fairly certain my entire VM was being ran on SWAP
no one uses DeluxHost for production sites. Lots of complaints here.
Use them only for personal vpn to watch porn sites. Nothing else serious.
Hi everyone,
We want to explain what happened and take responsibility for the mistakes on our side.
During June, we were affected by a very heavy DDoS attack that continued for around one month. This created a large number of support requests, and even today our team is still working through tickets connected to the downtime and its consequences.
We are doing everything possible to answer customers as quickly as we can, but honestly it has not been simple. The ticket system was under a much heavier load than usual, and we have also identified cases where tickets may have been closed automatically by the system. We are currently working to fix this.
There have also been delays and human oversights due to the volume of requests. This is not an excuse, and customers should still receive a proper answer, but we want to be transparent about the situation we have been dealing with. We are sorry for this and we are reorganising the support process to manage these cases better.
After the attack was under control, we decided to compensate affected customers by adding extra service days to their accounts.
WHMCS did not allow us to apply these extensions in the way we needed, so we created an internal script to do it.
Unfortunately, the script caused billing synchronisation problems on some accounts. It did not affect every customer, but in some cases it generated incorrect renewal invoices or automatic payment attempts.
These attempts were automatic. There was never any intention to charge customers twice or to take payments that were not due. However, the technical mistake happened on our side, and we fully accept responsibility for not discovering it earlier.
In this specific case, another mistake was also made. The wrong VPS was terminated while the refund and account situation had not yet been completed. This should not have happened, regardless of how busy the support team was.
The customer had every right to be frustrated, especially because the issue continued for much longer than it should have.
Communication with him is now constructive, and we are resolving the remaining account matters directly with him. We will not publish private ticket details or the compensation provided, but we appreciate his willingness to find a practical solution and bring the matter to a close.
We are not posting this to avoid responsibility or to claim that everything was handled correctly. It wasnt. There were technical mistakes, delays in communication and an incorrect termination.
At the same time, we want to make it clear that this was a technical, billing and operational failure following the service extensions. It was not fraud, and it was never an intentional attempt to take money from customers..
We are working to correct the remaining problems and improve the way we manage support and billing incidents in the future.
