    They lost your data?????

    Hey @marventanire,

How are you man? Yeah, unfortunately, we did have some issues with some of our storage nodes. The challenges are mostly handled, it took a bit to get them all settled, but things are rolling now. All but one server has been upgraded (last one still in progress), to RAID-5 or RAID-6 :)

You were running production servers without RAID or any redundancy or backups? Customers were getting JBOD performance and now only RAID5/6?

RAID5/6 on NVME is like spinning disk performance. Everyone else runs RAID1 or CEPH

    Hey @marventanire

I understand your viewpoint. Lots of different configs to choose from for sure. So far the upgrade to RAID 5 & 6 has been working well. Also I just wanted to be one the first to welcome you to the LET community, it looks like you just joined a few days ago. It's a great place for sure.

Please check your DM too, I would like to help you with that ticket.

I don't think there was any false advertising. People buying cheap should do their homework

    Hey @TimboJones

We definitely like to put as much info as we can on our advertising so customers can make the best decision based on what we offer.

    Thanks!

They buy based on all YABS reviews and then find out they had no RAID and now 5x as slow.... if they're lucky?

Is it normal for providers on here to skip RAID entirely and just go raw?

Normal for them to convert to very slow performance without telling people?

Are they the next summerhost deadpool?

    Hey @marventanire

You bring up some good points thank you. So far though the upgrade has gone pretty well so that is a plus. We are working hard for sure over here to make sure we keep things going.

Also if you don't mind I would like to DM you about some questions on RAID etc.

Please DM your ticket number too, so I can check it out for your. Will def help out on it.

    Thanks!

The tone can get pretty rough - okay, I’ve had a spat with Dedirock myself, but through that, I really got the impression that they genuinely want to please everyone, and at such great prices, too.

So, as a quick update: thanks, Dedirock! All in all, I have 11 services with Dedirock myself, and my partners have several VPSs too—and we’re satisfied!

    Hey @marventanire,

That is a good idea. So we do only have one node left that has RAID-0. We are almost done with the migrations and getting everyone upgraded. I like the idea of RAID-0 YABS and RAID-6 YABS. Let's do this once migrations are done, I can just put credit in your account so you can test a RAID-0 one and a RAID-6 one too and you can post? That cool? Plus I can handle your ticket from your earlier post? Let me know please, just DM your email or ticket number so I can help. Thanks!

All those losers here crying about data loss on a VPS that costs less then a pizza in Frankfurt. Use your brains, a fucking 15-20$ per year VPS is not a place where you safely store data. Those VPS are used for backup replication.. To have your data "secure" on a second or third location. The backlash this topic has gotten is pathetic. Seriously, storage VPS are dirt cheap. Even nowdays you can get 1TB storage VPSes between 20-50€. Just buy a second one from a different provider and replicate you data.

Dont think the provider has to do shit, if your data is important, YOU are responsible. Even if its a storage server, you always need to have at least one secondary backup target.

And now I am going to order me some prime pizza for the price of two Daddy Cock storage VPS. Jesus Christ.
