Just a heads up for anyone unaware, about 1-2 years ago I ordered from tms, and found out that the servers have ping spikes of 200+ ms every few hours exactly on the hour. This affected every subnet I tested, not just the one my server was on.
I asked on some forums and people said it was probably from some ARP storm due to overloaded or old switches.
⭐ 1/5 Probably One of the worst hosting experiences I've had
Ordered a dedicated server about 2–3 weeks ago and it's been one problem after another.
Delivery: Took nearly two weeks to provision and hand over. That's an unreasonable wait for a dedicated box, most providers deliver in hours to a couple of days.
Wrong hardware on arrival: The server shipped with a Ryzen 9 7950X paired with a single 16 GB RAM stick, badly underspec'd for that CPU, and single-channel to boot (half the memory bandwidth). Not what I expected for the tier.
"Fix" that fixed nothing: I reported the RAM. They swapped in a 32 GB module, but the system still only sees ~15 GB and the memory isn't being trained/initialized properly at the firmware level. I verified this directly: the BIOS memory map itself only exposes ~15.6 GB to the OS, and they never even updated the motherboard BIOS (still the same 2024 version that likely can't train the module).
~17 hours of downtime for nothing: During their "fix," the server was completely offline for around 17 hours, no public IP, no private network, totally dark. When it finally came back, the RAM was byte-for-byte identical to before. So ~17 hours of downtime and the problem is still there.
Net result: 2–3 weeks in, I'm paying for a server that has never had working RAM, plus a nearly-day-long outage and a support "fix" that accomplished nothing. Would not recommend.
