[Request] Free Basic VPS
Hi,
I'm looking for a free entry-level VPS to learn, experiment, and eventually move parts of my homelab online.
A VPS with 2 vCPUs, 2 GB of RAM, and less than 50 GB of storage would be more than enough for my needs.
I'm specifically looking for a provider that offers a free VPS without requiring a credit card for registration or the trial. I know Oracle Cloud has a generous free tier, but it requires credit card verification, which I'd like to avoid.
Thanks in advance for any recommendations!

No such thing as free without at least KYC by card or ID.
If you can manage to get by without a dedicated v4 IP and qualify you could try getting a VM from https://lowendtalk.com/discussion/215848/fossvps-updates-free-server-for-open-source-developers-from-alexhost-hosteroid-and-st-hosting or https://lowendtalk.com/discussion/165452/microlxc-public-test (not sure what happened to @Not_Oles's project but he used to do free NAT VPS too). Outside of that you are pretty much SOL.
so you have a credit card?
Would you like French fries with that VPS?
Congrats on your first post
Hello I am also looking for free dedi to learn
there are some free vps providers for FOSS projects here on LET. However they provide less resources 1c with at most 512mb ram

@angstrom already put it well g * that's *not a basic VPS.
Plus, while I do know a really well run free service here (@msatt) you don't qualify.
Have a nice weekend
Free, wow, this is the new bottom. At least you could follow LET tradition, ask it for 12$/y
There are free VPS available, but at specs considerably more in line with "entry-level", and in any case your account wouldn't qualify you for them anyway.
Avoid? There are cases wherein their silly payment verification system is rejecting bank's own statement stated address.
Oracle is like try to get thru, I challenge you!
Don't just use words like avoid. They can be unjust and devoid your correct details on face.
That being said, without KYC only your relatives or friends can help you, right?
@William OMG! Saw your name after a long long time. How are you?
Hiding in balkans with arrest warrant to deport me, trying to bleed me out of cash before i get to an EU court and win. Family destroyed, on the run.
Wait, what? about 15 years ago I had servers with Edis, thought you are the host rep.
Times changed, i massively helped built EDIS back then to be the international provider it is now. Was a good job. Nice Boss. Good company.
Before me EDIS was like a small Austrian hosting company, not even a LIR, then we expanded and started the multi location trend and international customers, i just failed to see the VPN trend after VPS or we could have turned easily a few million more.
In my time we added 20+ locations, started selling KVM, got RIPE IPs and renumbered, i built the backbone to Vienna (Graz is 350km away from the capital) and we migrated most servers to the capital, 10G upgrades and so on..... good times. I always will remember.
@William OMG! Saw you name after a long long time. How are you?
Warrant? Are you currently in a jurisdiction with no treaty to help them grab you?
This is very sad.
Kudos for what you did and achieved there!
And I hope that your personal situation gets better soon-ish.
TierHive has free credit on sign up for testing, without credit card or KYC.
Ideal for learning but really aimed at the optimised hobby scale home lab enthusiast market it is not enterprise grade and not pretending to be.
It's hourly and you are only billed for storage while powered off.
If it's not the right fit for you no problem, it costs nothing to test
from companies' perspective, they would want your CC information to avoid their services being abused, especially if you are not credible enough.
Exactly this. Services that offer "free trial" can basically do nothing with your CC, even if
they have the full number, exp date and CVV.
I think most of them just require it as anti MJJ abuse measurements.
Most spammers/abusers won't take the effort to signup with CC, etc.
