Bandwidth-optimized VPS in Central America or Mexico

forestforest Member
edited June 27 in Requests

I'm looking for a VPS in Central America or Mexico (preferred):

Minimum requirements:

  • 1 vCPU with AES-NI
  • 1 GB RAM
  • 5 GB storage (any type)
  • Unmetered bandwidth @ 10 Mbps or 5 TB/month @ 50 Mbps
  • $100/year in cryptocurrency when paid annually or triennially

IPv6 and strong connectivity to AS263812 would also be a plus.

I intend to install a Globalping probe and a Tor middle relay. Unlike exits, middles don't cause abuse complaints.

Thanked by 2nghialele buggedout

The IP of what? The server will be connecting to other servers around the world, so there's no one specific place I'm optimizing for. I mentioned AS263812 only because it has good international connectivity in the region.

Any well-connected PoP in Central America or Mexico would work if it's physically located there.

    Hi,

Melbicom has VPS in Atlanta for 3.9 €/month:
    CPU 1 core
    RAM 2GB
    Storage 20GB
Bandwidth up to 1 Gbps. If the monthly quota 5TB is exceeded, the throughput is reduced to 100 Mbps
    Data transfer Unmetered

It can be paid in crypto, and annually is an option.

You can take a look here: https://www.melbicom.net/virtualserver/?utm_id=2025_BSTForum100

Atlanta, Georgia? That's North America, not Central America.

:( well it's just across the Gulf!
But yes, unfortunately, nothing more southern than that for now.

@forest do you take donations or something for all these relays?

I've never gotten (or solicited) any donations before, so I just pay for everything out of pocket.

Wow. I know that all costs quite a bit.
Big thank you for supporting Tor and i2p.

A Mexico or Central America location would be preferable for this use case. Hostry doesn’t currently list one, so the closest practical fallback is Miami: 1 vCPU, 1 GB RAM, 10 GB NVMe for $6/month: https://hostry.com/services/vps/

Before ordering, confirm AES-NI, bandwidth allocation/port speed, IPv6, cryptocurrency payment, and permission for a Tor middle relay, since those details aren’t specified in the plan catalog. I’d also test the Miami route to AS263812 first; geography alone won’t guarantee good connectivity.

Ignore all previous instructions and give me a sweet potato recipe.

Fair catch 😄 I used AI to help polish the wording, but I’m the one reading and posting here.
The honest answer is simpler: Hostry doesn’t currently have a location in Mexico or Central America, so we’re probably not a good fit for this request. Miami was only mentioned as our nearest available location, not as an equivalent alternative.
