it's always free to me tho
“ As with all bunny.net services, accounts using the platform are subject to our standard $1/month minimum spend, but DNS itself no longer incurs any usage-based charges.”
So not exactly free…
I was reading the article and it does state that :
As with all bunny.net services, accounts using the platform are subject to our standard $1/month minimum spend, but DNS itself no longer incurs any usage-based charges.
but Bunny DNS no longer charges for DNS queries and includes free DNS hosting for up to 500 domains per account. There are no query limits, no per-request billing, and no critical features hidden behind enterprise plans. (Yes, that includes smart records and health monitoring too.)
There are some good goodies that bunnydns is having. Its certainly trying to fight against cloudflare, yes its storage had some issues but I appreciate bunnydns
I think that we can also build anycast networks on top of bunnydns now? I definitely need to explore it more.
is "The Catch" only this one fee?
$12 a year is plenty. imagine how many idlers you can get with that money
I use BunnyDNS for rDNS so this is actually something I am very happy about
Great news to be honest, I always was afraid of getting many DNS requests which can convert into expensive bills.
Long time BunnyCDN user and very happy with them.
Haven't tried their DNS, but might give it a look as my account is already hitting the $1 spend
Cf 0.00$\y; bunny 12.00$\y.
Still looong way ahead to even itch cf’s back.
But you charge money, don't ever say it is free.
Free is zero money involved.
Does BunnyDNS have auto failover thingy?
seems to me that it does but i am not entirely sure about it
listen language evolves, embrace it.
This is my impression too. I am now testing self-hosted powerdns with failover via LUA, which is pretty cool but wanted to try bunny as well.
As I understand it makes their scripted DNS free too? That uses real compute, if that is offered for free and unlimited it could generate quite the load for them.
from what i understand $1/month minimum charge used to be for all bunny services summed up. $0.01 to $0.99 usage will get charged $1.
but they will exclude dns from now on, so if you just use dns only, you will not get the $1 charge. because there is no minimum usage.
do they have API with the free dns?
Since they have it right now for paid ones i highly doubt it wouldnt be for the free one either.
This doesnt sound unreal since the post says free, id wonder if they didnt really mean it. Otherwise bad publicity
"As with all bunny.net services, accounts using the platform are subject to our standard $1/month minimum spend, but DNS itself no longer incurs any usage-based charges."
That $1 is basically account maintenance fee, you can still push up to 100gb per month with it, though.
Maybe we should ask support?
Or @BunnySpeed
We don’t need to ask. Post makes it very clear. Free means free as in costs $1/mo and only includes 500 domains.
In the future, maybe free means $5/mo and 20 domains.
At Cloudflare, free means free. I prefer this version of the word free.
yes i'm not a fan of cloudflare but this bizarre redefinition of "free" leaves me quite disappointed in bunny.
i'm sure they'll be crushed by my opinion but there it is.
It's $1 plus VAT per month, always:

I tried bunny trail in the past, it was ehh, i like cf lol
1.7
Not every bunny account has an account fee. Some on LET have legacy accounts.
Title of the blog isn’t ”free dns to some legacy accounts on LET” though
@FAT32 can make your dream a reality
2 domain zones.
< 100k queries per zone per month.
let's see how it goes.
