There is something seriously wrong with your routing in Finland. Domestic latency should not be 60 ms. Traffic should most def not be routed through Moscow.

Hi, done
Hi, done
We do not route traffic through specific cities, including Moscow. We do not control the global routing of internet traffic.
To better understand your situation, please send us a traceroute. One possible explanation is that RETN (our upstream provider) does not have local peering with your ISP, and the nearest peering point may be located in another country.
We have not received similar reports before, so at this point we are not able to confirm a network issue on our side. Please send us your traceroute results, and we will investigate further and get back to you with our findings.
Yes, it's a RETN issue. RETN is an exceptionally poor choice as an upstream in Finland. They have shit routing and fuck all peerings in Finland. 70% of all domestic traffic goes through Moscow or Stockholm. Latency is fucking unbelievable! It's lower latency to serve content from DE/NL!!!

That's 70% of the market right there. RETN has peering with only one Finnish carrier (Elisa).
RETN is the problem. The solution is to either dump RETN or add an upstream with proper peerings.
@HostVDS_com Ticket#192D1FC0, no response for 2 days
Thanks for the feedback
We do plan to add additional local upstreams and join local IXs in the future
That said, routing doesn't depend solely on our side. It also depends on the connectivity and peering policies of both the destination network and the end user's ISP
As for Stockholm, it's geographically very close to Finland and one of the main interconnection hubs in the region, so seeing traffic routed through Stockholm is quite common
We're continuing to improve the network as the platform grows
Nice.
Routing depends on your choice of upstreams. All the incumbents are well connected and peered. Either pick one of the incumbents as your upstream or one of the local IP transit providers. That will solve all your issues.
Yeah, no. On second thought, let me be more specific: Hell no! Only unserious networks route Finnish traffic through Sweden. Domestic traffic is supposed to stay domestic.
Anyway, I appreciate you answering and keeping an open mind to improving things.
That's fair
In this case, the reply was sent in less than two days, but response times were indeed longer than usual due to a high volume of incoming support requests at the time
We appreciate your patience
