What kind of Storage VPS are you looking for?

We’re collecting feedback to better understand what customers want in a Storage VPS.
If you’re interested in this type of service, let us know:

    • Preferred location(s)
    • Specs you need (CPU, RAM, storage size, RAID, etc.)
    • Bandwidth requirements
    • Your target price range

Any specific use‑case (backups, media storage, archives, seedbox, etc.)

    Thanks in advance

drop something like this for me :)

    Preferred location(s): Tampa
Specs you need (CPU, RAM, storage size, RAID, etc.): 2 vCore, 2GB RAM, 2TB HDD
    Bandwidth requirements: At least 3TB
Your target price range: 30-40$ yearly

    Yearly

  • SolidVPSSolidVPS Member, Patron Provider

We’re looking more for monthly terms, yearly would be very challenging.

    • Preferred location(s): Any country in Europe
    • Specs you need:

      • 1 core 1GB RAM (at least)
      • CPU doesn't matter as long as it supports x86-64-v3 microarchitecture and has AES-NI instuctions (so realistically not older than xeon e5v3)
      • Storage size: 0.5-1TB HDD
    • Bandwidth requirements: 1Gbps, at least 1TB traffic (but more is cool ofc)

    • Your target price range: No comment 🤐
    • Use case: Backups/media backups. Nothing too IO intensive.

At least this was what I was looking a couple months ago. Now I have found somewhat fitting alternative. Hope that was still useful :)

My dear user, are you somehow incinuating that one can have such a thing as too much storage?

Actually, yeah. I had one other storage VPS with 3TB HDD but didn't wanna waste this much storage whereas in reality my backups only take like 200-300GB :D

You can create another folder on the storage box saying backup-2 ... backup-n

You can sleep well at night that you have multiple redundant copies sitting on a jumbo storage box.

We've been quietly working on something pretty big over the past few months.

Today we're launching the completely redesigned SolidVPS website.

Some of the biggest changes include:

🚀 Completely redesigned UI from the ground up
⚡ Faster navigation and cleaner ordering experience
💻 New VPS lineup with simplified plans
🖥️ Brand new Dedicated Server section with one of the most advanced filtering systems we've built.

Instead of scrolling through hundreds of servers, you can instantly filter by things like:

    • CPU brand/model
    • Core count
    • RAM
    • NVMe or SSD
    • Storage size
    • Network speed
    • Location
    • Price
    • Instant deployment
    • and much more...

The goal was simple: help customers find exactly what they need in seconds instead of minutes.

We've also spent a lot of time optimizing performance, improving the overall user experience, and making everything work smoothly across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.

If you've used our services before—or even if you haven't—we'd genuinely appreciate your feedback on the new design.

As always, we're continuing to expand our VPS and Dedicated Server offerings across multiple global locations.

Feel free to take a look, test the filters, and let us know what you think!

@SolidVPS said: Feel free to take a look, test the filters, and let us know what you think!

It's a lot faster! I like that a lot. I can't find the filters to test...

One thing that confuses me, though, is that FAQs are bit strange, since some don't make very much sense ("What's the difference between KVM and EPYC?" and "What's the performance difference between SSD and SATA?") or have wrong answers and describe services you don't sell anyway ("How is KVM different from OpenVZ?"). A lot of the FAQ entries are not actually specific to the product line they are under, either ("Are there any hidden fees?" which is only under one product).

Some other issues (sorry if I'm being nitpicky!):

    • When hovering over the locations under "Locations That Work for You", the cursor changes to indicate that they can be clicked, but clicking them doesn't do anything.
    • I also can't find the "live chat" that is advertised as a feature of the "Starter KVM" product line, nor any information about the advertised automatic failover (which seems like quite the enterprise feature for a low-cost line).
    • Unlike the other product lines, the "Budget Linux" line advertises dedicated cores (like a VDS), which seems unlikely for such a low price and will probably result in angry MJJs complaining about low but non-zero CPU steal.
    • There's nothing to indicate if a product is sold out. Everything I clicked led to a sold out WHMCS page.

I like how the navigation works, but I think the layout of the offers and the FAQs should be fixed up.

What I think would be best is to simplify it. Allow users to select what they need from within only a few small categories (e.g. "Standard", "Storage", "High-frequency" that loosely correspond to which node they get put on), with each parameter being independent. I.e. give an option for number of cores, amount of RAM, monthly bandwidth, storage size, etc.

I noticed that the ToS no longer has a blanket ban on Tor relays, instead only banning Tor exit relays. That's awesome!

Infinite redirect in the knowledgebase, btw (although it's in WHMCS and not the new homepage):

Ah, I didn't check the dedicated server page! Btw, the infinite redirect still seems to be occurring.

Eh, it's just been changed after I wrote that to prohibit all Tor activity, even bridges. Damn. :/
