Not sure about that sorry tho john, but I suppose you can try to hook up an inbox server and then use outbound with amazon ses/similar as I mentioned but you have mentioned that you wish for direct alternatives, there definitely must exist though, its good if people mention these now though that you have asked it :-)
For attention obviously, but some of us are actually employed so its hard to imagine
counter argument: if he isn't employed then jar got the wrong guy
I am running two self hosted email servers. One sending emails directly, another one via mxroute. I prefer mxroute to ses etc but wanna explore alternatives to mxroute.
of course, I guess first thought comes at @NameCrane for a direct alternative to mxroute, I am not familiar with EU options but perhaps other can be, so it will be good to know more options personally too as well, so I am waiting for others to talk about alternatives i guess.
hmmmmm, tempting...........

So tl;dr what did I miss?
wait Hetzner suspended his server over an anonymous complaint from a nobody ?
Yeah that's Hetzner for you
Not the best at TLDR but I'll try, @jar responded to this on lowendspirit in one of the links here/images trying to defend it. @jbiloh has responded within this thread too calling it not good behaviour from jar essentially. Let me know if you want more details :-)
Wyvern send a takedown request to Hetzner which is how jar found out his alleged identity and linked it to a (now defunct) company using the UK Companies House database to find the owner (who allegedly is Wyvern) and then contact their employer
Thanks, I'll read it all.
I really hope some moderation action will come from this.
The name of the sale was pretty egregious. Hetzner did the right thing in not supporting that.
What was the name of sale?
"forest_and_WyvernCo_are_psycho"
IIRC, it was "wyvernco and forest are psycho" was the name of the deal which is pretty eggregious for what its worth
You tried to badly hurt a business by contacting hosting providers and payment processors over a personal discussion with the owner.
Both sides of this matter are at fault here.
Ok, Hetzner added to my never-use-again providers.
Fuck me...
I had nothing to do with that, but I wouldn't be surprised if jar's actions did violate Hetzner's ToS.
it works and its cheap and it's a good to support homies doing their own thing. there was definitely a lack of polish but that's been changing in recent times i think. the one downside was i couldn't really recommend it to acquaintances because jar isn't particularly pleasant to communicate with.
i'm pretty annoyed by this whole thing just because i feel inconvenienced now but this really was over the line for me. i know i know, it isn't all about me but still.
maybe i'll feel better if i blame lowendtalk.
Yes, we discussed earlier Hetzner TOS, but the sale title alone breaks 3~4 Hetzner rules.
I think Hetzner is strict to all and they have made it clear and they dont wish to be involved in too much drama so that they don't have to be partial* and wouldn't remove/kick you from their service if you criticize them (the same couldn't be said about MXRoute)
I have a love/hate relationship to Hetzner's strictness sometimes but I feel like it might be necessary/well-founded within the context of their business and OVH is a more lax provider but you then have generally speaking less support than Hetzner's chill support team.
Basically using something like hetzner/ovh depends on the project you are having tbh.
I feel like some providers have lax rules and then get messed up as somethings they either have to decide themselves or even then at worst get things in court which sucks for both of them and usually most hosts have a hatch away clause for something like this. So its basically a trust factor (sort of), Atleast you can count for the most part Hetzner being predictable though.
personally if you ask me, I feel like I love both hetzner/ovh depending on the project.
amazon/azure vps + mailcow + mail.baby
and you are all safe.
Right but using your brain is forbidden in this thread
counter counter argument: wasnt it the point that jar got the wrong person to begin with? You cant contact the employer of someone who is severely unemployed
So the updated tl;dr is that WyvernCo reported jar for harassment for the attack sale so jar tried to get the wrong guy fired and now jar is saying "you're lucky I didn't report you to the cops"?
So what?
@WyvernCo was hurt so badly by a thread title in a forum that he tried to shut a small business which feeds a family.
How is that proportionate? The ToS matter is almost irrelevant to the discussion.
He tried to shut down the business itself or just get the attack sale removed?
A bit excessive maybe but when a company with high visibility insults you to all their customers, I can understand his anger and the desire to get that page taken down. But that's a far cry from trying to shut down the business.
Tbh, if wyvern had thicker skin, like forest, we wouldn't be here and this would not have escalated
