I want to know the reviews of all paid and free AI tools.

NushairAlviNushairAlvi 🚩 Host Rep Tag Suspended

Hello LET,

I am curious about all kinds of AI. In the field of coding, I always prefer to use VS Code with Copilot. I would like to know the reviews of different AI tools available on the internet.

For learning, I usually rely on Copilot and Gemini. I want to know if all others will agree with me?

I tried deepseek, its not good at coding. Try Codex by openai once, they have published a vscode extension too! I used it to vibe code a ssh app for gnome and it worked as expected, but I dont use the app tbh.... I just vibe coded that app to test how codex works!

Codex 3.5 seems very good so far. Not tried Opus 4.6 that much but it seemed a lot slower than 4.5 that's for sure.

  • Claude is good but you have to be a rich coder or working in a rich corporate.

    Since many here prefer privacy,

Anthropic (Claude) has been dropped by the U.S. government after an order from Donald Trump, because Anthropic wanted assurances that its technology would not be used for mass surveillance or for autonomous weapons systems that can kill people without human input.

The Pentagon has made an agreement with OpenAI (ChatGPT/Codex) instead.

OpenAI claims that its agreement with the U.S. government includes assurances that it will not be used for those purposes. (Yeah, right. 😄)

Yes, you're absolutely Right. But with the experience, I can surely say that VS Code is Better than any other AI coder in the field.

Thanks for the information. I will try that ASAP. But I usually use VS code and I always open Copilot for additional help. But the funniest thing is that they work flawlessly together like Spouse .

Yes, you're at the right point. But brother, quality matters more than quantity. And also, the experience matters for some people like me.

I have a lot better experience with Cursor. It's a fork of vscode but AI is better integrated.

I don’t like it at all tbh but I guess it’s personal

I imagine exactly how I want the end product to look like and tend to explain my ambitions quite detailed and Codex just likes to take initiatives I don’t want

That's fair, I've not used Opus 4.6 a lot, but when it first came out it seemed a lot slower. Might have gotten better.

Unless you go with claude max plan for 200/mo - it has very tight limits. Codex is way more generous. And on xhigh it is extremely capable

Yeah their limits are smol, I got rid of my cursor pro plan as auto is no longer unlimited/counts towards your plan. So currently sticking with codex.

GPT5.3 Codex seems to have been a decent step up from 5.2.

Agreed. It feels more capable like Opus now. I know from experience that before Codex 5.3, Codex CLI always let me down and I have to switch to Claude Code.

5.3 is really good and OpenAI is generous with their limits. But I'm sticking with Anthropic now due to the recent event.

Okay, then I should give it a try! I tried that 2 or 3 years ago, but I didn’t like it then. However, I think they’ve made a lot of improvements now.

I think it is doing well now obviously not the best . But In the past, it was very laggy.

Yes. But Max 20x package also makes you a beggar. It is good, but not in price.

Yes. The main problem with VS Code is the limitation. It was much better in the past when it had no limit !!
