Best email host?

@jar Is this the case with the older accounts as well, when the limit was 300?
The plan offers -1 inode so you owe the system a file.
The system has chosen to delete the terms of service file, hence it’s not clickable.
I love domainhacks, I've never tried to self-host email since it feels to critical and outlook/google can be a pain to deal with in terms of deliverability. Mailcow was also pretty heavy resource wise, any recommendations in terms of self-hosted podman containers that mostly does everything for you?
alright fine, than you can try ElasticEmail, worked not bad for me, about 94% delivery rate on a project which sends about 500-700 mails per day, 10,000 emails per month are free:
https://elasticemail.com
HestiaCP. But even if you get 10/10 score, you still need relay for landing in inbox in big corps, so not worth it imho. Just get jars or if you want in eu zoho and be done with it.
Startmail/Fastmail are what I am into.
mailcow+ses
Amazon SES is best for both pricing & deliverability, but it is harder to get approved for it these days even if you play by the rules. But if you do get approved, the deliverability is top notch since they rigorously police their network and kick out spammers.
Apparently MXRoute bans for bad reviews so avoid them.
Would be nice if there were more pay-what-you-use providers who billed like SES (no monthly subscription).
question: is onepoundmail a mxroute reseller or is it a own service?
They're a mxroute reseller.
MXRoute reseller as I know.
Taken out of context and distorted - basically a lie.
I've been using MXroute services since 2019, and recommended it to many friends and acquaintances (individuals and business owners). Never saw any problems.
AFAIK, MXroute does not "ban" its customers without a very good reason, and as you too are probably aware, a bad review in and of itself does not warrant "ban."
Having said that, if a customer is unhappy enough to leave a 1-star review, I should have the liberty to stop doing business with them. That is one tiny advantage of capitalism compared to feudalism or slavery. But, again, I don't think MXroute does that for reviews alone - you need to mess things up badly in addition to that.
Doesn't really make much sense to say avoid them if you're going to leave a bad review. If you don't like something enough to leave a bad review.. you're going to probably avoid them after that anyway.
If you hate a service enough to leave a bad review and keep using it.. they've done you a favour lol
It’s fine. Someone is sitting back and laughing about how I helped to shape a hostile environment that later became as hostile to me as I was to other hosting providers back in the day. On some level it’s nice to see the torch passed, on another its more “I’m too old for this shit.”
What is the best VPS provider in Europe for hosting a self-hosted mail server? Currently, I'm using the Hetzner CX23, but with their price increases, I'm looking for alternatives.
Yup - but I still really don't like injustice and decided to reply instead of just moving on (for better or for worse).
The other thread documents that MXRoute has:
MXRoute doesn't seem to be denying these happened but claiming he was justified in each case (due to abusive language from customer in support tickets, being located in Texas, etc). While I appreciate jar sharing his perspective and defense with us, a lot of us have concerns that these events ever happened at all.
So I'm guessing by all these replies that self hosting email on vps is not worth it anymore? We all have to either pay per email or pay for something with a cap?
There, I'm about to shit into my own pants.
Thank you.
One minor difference of opinion and the dude starts going through years of reviews, entirely from people who abused our service or support, assigns them all full value and assigns zero value to the rebuttals, and can't stop fixating on it. But I'm the unstable one 🤣
This is why no one likes LET and you guys get taken advantage of by scammers so often. Because not many are willing to put up with the constant slander from people who think their opinions are hard facts just to get $3.
I'll just go ahead and say right now if you're going to follow into every thread and keep spreading lies with impunity, I'm not paying the invoice to renew my membership (@jbiloh). It's unacceptable behavior. You have a difference of opinion, you don't like me, internalize those things and move the hell on. They really need to start teaching how to have healthy disagreements with people in school.
Sure, I mean I guess you can take this as a lesson that hosts shouldn't publicly air noxious opinions that are generally unpopular with customers. 😅
But the real take away should be that you're engaging in a few bad business behaviors and should fix that. That's what I want to see, is some recognizance that the above actions should not have been done, and you'll take steps to fix things going forward.
I like LET
I said my opinion. You don't agree. The end. Your opinion that it's "obnoxious" is not a reason to follow me around and spread lies. I found your response to my opinion obnoxious, you don't see me following you around in every thread to share stories from your ex boyfriend. That's obsessive and creepy. I'd say "do better" but you've more than shown that isn't on the table for you.
This is a thread for recommendations in which your service was already brought up. The information on your behavior is directly relevant to potential customers who are considering your service. Please expect from here on out that you can count on me (and perhaps the other offended LET'ers) bringing up your actions again and again in future threads when MXRoute is recommended so as to provide a balanced point of view on your business. You can engage in shitty business behavior, but these are the consequences for doing so.
Also, in terms of "lies," we don't seem to be disagreeing on that you took the four actions above, only whether your justifications were sufficient for doing so.
Given your complete lack of remorse or responsibility, I may escalate to more visible / non-LET venues to shine a light on your shitty business practices as well when I have some time later. You are quite clearly an unprofessional host and people should be aware of that before choosing to deal with you.
I am not now, nor will I ever be remorseful for putting up with a customer far beyond what I should have and then using their bad review as the final straw. If that violates the values of your religion, it is not my concern. I have already responded to all of the negative reviews with my story. You have casually tossed out those responses and demanded that I account for each of them here today in two different threads as punishment for disagreeing with your personal opinion.
And now you want to escalate further? This seems to you like something a well adjusted adult spends their time doing?
@trewq @FAT32 @jbiloh I would appreciate if you would just deal with this.
yea, I am wondering the same thing as well.
I found liquidweb to be interesting to support this but the problem with this type of thing is that if these vps are open, then these can be used for spams by other people and get blocked as well
https://lowendtalk.com/discussion/194256/liquidweb-cloud-was-used-to-send-phishing/p1
And then jar's comment in it where he marked it in his RBL. Now the issue with complete unmoderation could exactly be this but that being said, there are still options. Liquidweb, kamatera, hetzner from what I have heard.
Now on the other spectrum, I saw https://www.startmail.com/pricing and it seems to be interesting to me as well.
Now in my understanding, email is fundamentally unencrypted platforms but yet I do feel like there can be some benefit within companies like protonMail and startmail for what its worth and I do find their pricing to be reasonable
I have seen ways of getting Startmail's 1st year cheaper than Mxroute default (well their black friday deals are nice) but it honestly depends on what you wish to achieve.
I don't know too much about the email protocol and clearly there are experts here who know much much more than me about email but imo for many businesses amazon ses or equivalent could be nice as well.
Email feels a bit to me like whack-a-mole game, @jar am I correct?
More than ever before: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/5786144/all-sending-ips-temporarily-rate-limited-(451-4-7?source=docs
Perhaps these are 'opinions' but these are widely held (and strongly held) beliefs among most businesses and customers. Please hear us when we say it's not acceptable behavior to cross these lines above. Just do the right thing, please.
What a good reminder to selfhost receiving end of your email, or at least avoid "too big to block" ESPs
Your response was quick xD but aside from that, I think that microsoft is one of the worst offenders from mail. The monopoly of gmail/microsoft seem so bad to me for mail.
I can understand gmail but the only reason I understand microsoft is if gets bundled with windows licenses or excel/word licenses and all with teams and mail giving microsoft such immense power.
I have only skimmed through the issue but such practices from windows feel like anti competition/monopolistic yet one can do nothing about it if your clients downstream are impacted by it.
