i'm going to avenge myself after the African fluke.
This is not a VPS and the country is nothing new, BUT the location is.
The seem to offer web hosting on TRISTAN DA CUNHA
https://www.obiztek.com/web-hosting-saint-helena-ascension-and-tristan-da-cunha-uk.html
which ones accept crypto
I'm afraid that's another SEO scammer
Yepp.
Doesn't get much more exotic than:

Do you provide API? We might consider to include your location into our marketplace
Also, we are considering including some exotic locations in our marketplace. Please let me know if any of them provide an API.
A long running one if anything https://web.archive.org/web/20001001000000*/https://www.obiztek.com/
I have the same idea, but these are not the countries I like.
I like VPS in Hawaii, Guam, Mauritius, Solomon Islands, North Korea, Okinawa, Gibraltar, Andorra, etc.
I'm just saying that there are too few servers in these areas, and even if there are, they are very expensive and I can't afford them. Haha
Whats the consensus here on oneprovider and lightnode? Are their locations real or just fake IP geos?
I think lightnode is a rebrand and the previous company was shady at best.
@jimaek Oneprovider is real if you don't have one with a geolocation ip, but that should be stated somewhere in the ordering process (but I don't think they have those in the onecloud range). But those vps are (in some locations) not the right choice if uptime stability is a concern, even if they use decent upstreams (e.g. Leaseweb or Latitude for the high performance range in some locations)
Oneprovider's Oslo, NO is Sandefjord, NO
Fez, MA is Malaga, ES
Dubai, AE is Fujairah, AE
Athens, GR is Thessaloniki, GR (I think?)
The rest seem real.
LightNode is all real AFAIK, but their transit in some locs is disgusting.
I was just thinking about this the other day. Slovenia is a interesting place, but seems like a small country in my opinion. Was curious how big hosting is over there.
I may have FINALLY found a legitimate web hosting offer for an actually remote location
Saint Helena!
https://www.sure.co.sh/assets/Uploads/Webhosting.pdf
No idea if it's still active though
VULTR has vps in Hawaii, also krypt.com
Scaleway has some 'exotic' locations like Peru and Fez, MA. Also some South American locations.
I have also found a legit host in Tunisia too.
Oneprovider is what caasify was trying to become: a reseller gobbling up cheap boxes and either reselling them as dedicated or slicing them up for their Cloud. I frequently see them trying to resell Psychz and Online.net/Scaleway boxes to me with a 10% markup.
I've seen Lightnode (someone recommended it for a Cambodia VPS a few weeks ago) but haven't used them directly.
YES
The Canaries!
https://www.civicos.com/servicios/kerfork-hosting-2.html
Bless be Hurricane Electric! https://he.net/3d-map/
Maybe also Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago according to this link: https://massygroup.com/our-business/information-and-communication/
It seems like you have to reach out to them, so no off the shelf prices.
I also managed to find a Pakistani datacenter
https://multinet.com.pk/
Definitively less "exotic" but far from common in my experience
In smaller countries, there usually aren’t any big data centers, and VPS tends to be slow.
There was a small Chinese host that offered VPSes with a spoofed North Korea geolocation, but I can't for the life of me find it again. I should have checked with Globalping or IPInfo to find out its real location.
The most exotic (real) locations I have are Kosovo from RS Computers and Nigeria from SiteHub. Runner-ups would be South Africa from Maxko Hosting, Slovenia from Pfcloud, Chile from Infofractal, and Vietnam from DataOnline.
Some exotic locations I don't have are Laos from No Ack Hosting and Bangladesh from MetroVPS.
Rip. I can't find anything even with https://he.net/3d-map
Nigeria isn't too rare, Melbicom also has it.
I didn't mention a few things in this thread half a year ago since the OP asked for specific locations. Now I see people taking the exotic locations in general, so I can add one provider in Angola (🇦🇴) if anyone is interested.
elende.ao has prices starting at $9/m ($7.67/m when paid yearly) for 1c2g25g unm KVM VPS. I strongly recommend KVM because in LXC their kernel is 4.xx IIRC.
Has been stable except that one time in July when there was country-wide internet outage.

nws.sh south america:

Their upstream (Angolacables) has "decent" connectivity to South America since they have undersea cable going there.
However don't expect unicorns - the hardware is pretty old, network latency around the world pretty high (however it's still very good in Africa thanks to angolacables).
I have it cheaper with @HostDoc (sitehub)
Melbicom does not do any deals and i have other reasons not to use them anyway.
oh and +1 for RS Computers in Kosovo and North Macedonia (sadly no ipv6).
There's a nice chinese blog where someone is testing VPS servers in interesting locations.
And also this chinese telegram group.
warning: proceed with caution for those listed below and always conduct your own research
For example wap.ac and probably some from this comment.
This is fake geo and mostly LXC containers, they just set HE tunnel to North Korea and tunnel vps traffic through it, sometimes also combined with CF warp to get IPv4 connectivity. I don't recommend using any of those.
uzuma has a bunch of cheap LXC container options in different locs around the world. Some are also tunneled via proxies, however I was able to get Uruguay container in real location for example.
Some other rare locations. Not all under $5, but none are too expensive:

Which ones?
What are those other reasons?
I found an Icelandic🇮🇸 provider
https://spaugur.com/en/services/vserver
Nominally not rare but it's like the first I've seen in years.
No off the shelf pricing however.
Vietnam isn't that exotic though. Plenty of DCs in Hanoi and HCMC (and a lot of local providers with LET price tag apparently)
Well....with @HostDoc it is interesting. I have got NG NAT server. While ipv4 seems to point back to NG, ipv6 points to Hetzner DE...I guess they are tunnelling traffic, which is...well, not nice
Hence calling it a runner-up. It's certainly not your Netherlands or America, but it's nothing like Djibouti or Rwanda either.
I'm pretty sure it really is in Nigeria. Assuming that's SiteHub, they run one of the K root nameserver anycast instances in Nigeria. Maybe it's the IPv6 being tunneled and not the IPv4.
