billed for visualwebtechnologies lifetime hosting deals from 2022

did anyone else get billed in 2025 for their "lifetime" hosting purchase from visualwebtechnologies ?

    Yes, and they basically said too bad. I used PayPal in 2022 for payment and visualwebtechnologies coded it as a re-occurring subscription. That means the money was taken out automatically without another invoice being sent.

    Recurring as in every three years?

    Does the plan have a name that indicates lifetime or a listed frequency in the billing section of WHMCS?

    I purchased the plan from a promo during LowEndBox Black Friday (https://lowendtalk.com/discussion/comment/3547618#Comment_3547618)

    At the time, assumed lifetime wasn't three years so I didn't check for any billing frequency in WHMCS.

    This reminds me, why I will never buy any lifetime deals. What does "lifetime" even mean? 1 Years? 10 Years?

    Operator goes bankrupt or dies and the service is gone. There are so many factors, that I would never trust to pay the high upfront cost.

    Never the less, it's a pretty sad case, if what you said is true. They didn't over to refund you that money? That sounds like scam

    Why they just don't call it a 5 drink and prevent all the pissed off customers? This is why countries need consumer advocate departments that actually do shit. Companies do this if nothing happens when caught.

    Oof I bought one of these in 2024, thanks for the heads up, paypal wasn't connected and haven't gotten hit yet personally. Just confirmed that billing details also say one time for my service in the portal. Hopefully @visualwebtechnologies can explain themselves

    You sure it's not a PayPal subscription issue? Like... They don't charge you but you send an automatic payment through PayPal?

    Couple of weeks back I cancelled a server at a host, the subscription at PP remained so the money was sent anyway. Hasn't happened for years till now. Anyway, just raised a ticket and they refunded me without a word.

    It was setup as a PayPal subscription but visualwebtechnologies still took money out. Opened up a ticket asking for a refund and they said too bad. And closed my hosting account too.

    I've had similar PayPal based lifetime hosting subscriptions with other hosts and was never charged.

    It's not accurate. I didn't purchase a tri-annual plan. I have the email receipt from my order in 2022 and it says "Black Friday 2022 - Reseller spro lifetime".

    Then I was billed in 2025. I didn't expect that, so I asked for a refund. What they did was deny my refund and close my hosting account without warning.

    I have proof for anyone who wants to see. If any official LET admins want to provide a place for me to upload them, I'm willing.
