@barbarza how is the year starting for you? hope all good.

are you letting go any of your precious :)

The year has started very well but crazily busy, I hope yours has been good so far too.

Shockingly none of my LE's are idling at the moment, they're all being used for some project or another. That's what happens during my holidays, I get started on a million different things.

Due to the memory shortage, even if they idle, you just keep them.

    LE-B 2 is not idling

LE-B 1, ram is partially used

Bunch of VPS are idling though
Next year I will buy less. (maybe)

Agreed, I got 11.78% CPU usage across 4 of them, I consider it non idle.

I'm concerned that OVH will increase prices of my existing servers once commitment period ends, but im also unwilling to commit beyond 12 months.

They increased prices on me 4 or 5 years ago when there was an 'energy crisis' in Europe, which didnt last long, but they never reduced the prices back down for me, even though I could order a new one at the original price. that peed me off quite a bit. I ended up cancelling and re-ordering after a few months of arguing with them. They gave me credit for some of the period I 'over paid'.

let them try... last time a provider pulled that trick on me, i immediately canceled everything i had from them, and never ever ordered anything again

we the consumers vote with our wallets, and i'm always ready to exercise my voting powers :D

p.s. it was online.net, today scaleway, and I had several cheap Atoms from them, but long time ago...

yeah thats ok if you're just idling, but I have services running on them that would be not worth the time/money/effort to move ... i couldnt get the deal i have anywhere else.

  • zephzeph Member

Do we get some new deals this year? Or will the RAM price increase be the reason OVH will increase their renewals pricing/deal pricing?

oh, definitely not just idling, but still... i understand your concern

many years ago i was in the same shoes, server migration was so complex and error prone that i understood very well that it needed to be optimized, definitely made simpler

so, in time, i optimized... later on when hetzner auction server dropped in price by measly few euros... you could see me ordering, migrating following simple instructions, canceling old one, like a clockwork... practice makes perfect B)

They did couple of times before including the ip address charges. I think they could increase more.

  • Temporarly removed eco line on website, eco.ovhcloud.com still works.

Someone pressed the wrong button :)

  • Is this finally the new lineup being released?

  • the end is nigh

  • Seems like ovh now supports backups to dedis.
And seems like they have removed eco dedis from the main ovh page, but eco.ovhcloud.com still works

David posted about it on Discord in the game channel. It's meant to backup your data to their Object Storage.

its insane that they offered this for free. I actually wonder if there is a limit or a catch, since I have bunch of KS-2 16T with disks almost full.

  • what do you mean? it's €0.007 ex. VAT/GiB/hour. the only free thing is being able to use Veeam.

This, it's quite expensive to be honest
