Very nice deal. You had me at $20/year, but the double cpu and disk is great.

I almost missed this. Thank you so much.

  • @Servitro Thanks for your great service!

  • I really regret buying a VPS from this host. It only responds once a day. I paid for a year's worth of expensive VPS, and on the third day, I received a VPS with an unresponsive IP address. A waste of time and nothing more.

  • Anyone have YABS for Virtual-1 AMD EPYC 7443P?

My VPS is on the currently-broken IP range so I can't update it, but I did run YABS and store the results when I first got it (before the free resource boost got applied):

That GB6 score is bad. Never seen an AMD CPU score this less.

I'll be honest, I hadn't been paying much attention to CPU performance because I had low expectations and I knew the CPU core(s) would be shared. When my VPS has been working, I've been aiming for maximal CPU efficiency.

For context to your point, because I don't have a strong mental image of how bad that score is, I looked up the YABS result for the very-cheap dedicated server that I have from Oneprovider (located in Paris, on Online SAS / Scaleway network). Here's some highlights from that as a point of comparison:

    Basic System Information:
    ---------------------------------
    Uptime : 43 days, 5 hours, 11 minutes
    Processor : Intel(R) Core(TM) i3 CPU 540 @ 3.07GHz
    CPU cores : 4 @ 3059.063 MHz
    AES-NI : ❌ Disabled
    VM-x/AMD-V : βœ” Enabled
    RAM : 3.7 GiB
    Swap : 16.0 GiB
    Disk : 899.5 GiB
    Distro : Ubuntu 24.04 LTS
    Kernel : 6.8.0-31-generic
    VM Type : NONE
    IPv4/IPv6 : βœ” Online / ❌ Offline

(this is edited highlights for performance comparison, not a full YABS dump)

    Geekbench 6 Benchmark Test:
    ---------------------------------
    Test | Value
                    |
    Single Core | 464
    Multi Core | 944
    Full Test | https://browser.geekbench.com/v6/cpu/16404020

YABS completed in 22 min 5 sec

On those specific tests, a seriously retirement-age Core i3 540 (launched January 2010) beats a modern-ish EPYC (7443P was launched March 2021) in a single-core fight. I can only presume the Servitro host server was feeling very badly overloaded when I did that YABS run.

I use that dedi server for "sensible" things, like some websites and email and so on.

My Servitro VPS is for personal learning / experimentation sort of undertakings - the sort of stuff that could cause a Valuable Learning Opportunity in the sense of me totally wrecking the system with my own incompetence. Such hilarious educational experiences are better done not on the same system as my practical useful server stuff. But I can't learn very much when it's not accessible over the internet :disappointed:

I get better GB6 score than this AMD's one on my Intel VPS servers that I use for learning purposes. And yes, they are cheaper than this. Infact, one of my Intel VPS has like multiple time better GB6 single core and multi core score than this for much lesser cost. It's insane how an AMD's score can be this less. If it was Intel I wouldn't be surprised but since it's AMD, I'm really surprised with these scores.

Anyone have YABS for Virtual-1 AMD EPYC 7443P?

My VPS is on the currently-broken IP range so I can't update it, but I did run YABS and store the results when I first got it (before the free resource boost got applied):

Because of my experiences with them this month, especially the current outage, I cannot recommend using them. But you asked for YABS, so here YABS is

That YABS made me cry 😭
