Their promotion was spread across different nodes. Depending on where you at, capacity might just not be there or being filled with new orders.

Also, that promo was insane... Curious about the motivation to come back one year(!) after date to get an even better deal. Where does it end?

This kind of behavior is exactly why some excellent hosts left let. They're willing to eat some profit to amuse us, then they get beaten up over semantics.

Also, there have been better offers past few weeks, if you'd pay notice. So why mess about with a host when you can get something else?

Just observe, they ain't perfect but getting a shit storm of unreasonable crap thrown at them currently. I think they the next to leave let. I hope they do, So I can enjoy my 6/y servers in in peace.

    >

I've bought 2 VPS from them, and it's absolutely insane. For that price, both of my VPS have %stealtime ~ 0%. I couldn't even dream that I could buy a VPS with 8-core AMD, GB6 1800 single core, 8 GB RAM for just 58 USD per year.

I have 4 from Hostsailor. And I'm using its new promotional price as my benchmark for purchasing new vps, so I can buy less😂
    Happy new Year!

Everything is fine now. Thank you very much. :)

  • How long after purchasing this VPS can I actually use it? It's been several hours and the machine is still unusable.

I wish the vps in LAX could be added more bandwidth, like a paid tier after 2TB.

Curious about the motivation to come back one year(!) after date to get an even better deal. Where does it end?

I already explained why the timing matters. Because the 90% discount was tied to annual billing, the first realistic opportunity for capacity to free up (absent immediate terminations for abuse, etc.) would be around 12.12.2025 when renewals/cancellations occur.

Also, I’m not asking for a “better deal.” I’m asking to upgrade my plan under the same recurring discount, which HostSailor explicitly confirmed would be possible.

It’s not fair to attribute general community hostility toward hosts to me personally. You and I have both been on LET for over a decade; to my knowledge, no host has “left LET” because of my behavior. More importantly, this isn’t about semantics; HostSailor’s statements were straightforward, and then the conditions changed later.

Do you mean better offers from HostSailor specifically, or from other hosts in general? I chose HostSailor partly because they’ve been around for a long time. I’m not interested in chasing random new providers that disappear, degrade in quality, or oversell once nodes fill up.

I’m genuinely not trying to start a “shit storm.” I’m raising a specific issue: HostSailor said upgrades would be possible while retaining the discount, and then went silent or added a limiting condition later. If you think my expectations are unreasonable, please point out exactly what part is unreasonable, because from my side, I’m simply asking them to honor what they told customers.

Dude, I read you. I opened a ticket months ago hoping to upgrade with same discount and was politely declined. The reason given was also limited resources.
The issue is that your perspective on this is somewhat rigid. Just because some users don't renew doesn't mean there are available resources for upgrades. The final say is with the provider (maybe bandwidth is insufficient?).
For technical reasons, I understand. For business reasons, I'm lenient toward my preferred suppliers. I hope everyone thrives in a new year and after.
    That's just my humble opinion.

Also, is it possible to install from an ISO?

Right, SolusVM v1 allows for installation from an ISO, assuming that the provider is willing to make ISOs available

I'm just wondering whether a user can request a specific ISO if it's not already available

Yeah, double RAM and DISC in VPS SSD is much more better !
I refund a SSD VPS because i choose Almalinux 8 when order, so its performance was very bad. Only later did I realize that i should choose new linux OS as almalinux 9 for VPS to accurately detect the CPU cores, which then gives the VPS the best performance. Now I'm a bit regretful, hehe.

    No, @Freek is not rigid.

@HostSailor support crapped even though the team managing LE* accounts said otherwise. I too purchased a low configuration package only after assurance from @HostSailor that upgrades will possible with the same discounted pricing.

But when time came to honor the request, support said otherwise. Plus @HostSailor rep tactfully and selectively choose to ignore the comments and till date has not responded.

Calling out providers on their flip-flop policies does not mean hosts would leave LE* forums. Reputed hosts acknowledge and accept their shortcomings and try to improve, not ghost the users. Or atleast care to come clean and say it was a mistake to promise upgrades.

@bingo567 Thank you for sharing it. Due to weekend, it is taking time. I'll check with team .

  • HostSailorHostSailor Member, Patron Provider

Thank you for raising this upgrade issue of 2024. I want to address it clearly and transparently.

During the 12.12.2024 promotion, a 90% lifetime recurring discount was indeed offered on specific promo configurations, hosted on dedicated promo nodes with limited capacity. At that time, our team communicated that upgrades could be possible subject to available capacity on the same promo node. Unfortunately, this condition was not always stated as clearly as it should have been, which led to understandable frustration later on.

    To clarify our position:

    • The 90% lifetime discount was node-specific, not a blanket entitlement across all configurations
    • Once a promo node reached capacity, upgrades retaining the same discount were technically not possible unless capacity was freed
    • We acknowledge that in some cases, expectations were set without enough emphasis on these limitations

That said, we are not ignoring or dismissing legitimate commitments.

If anyone was explicitly promised (via ticket or forum reply) an upgrade while retaining the 90% discount, we ask that you please:

    1. Open a ticket at [email protected]
    2. Include screenshots or ticket references showing that commitment
    3. Mention the original order/invoice ID

Each case will be reviewed individually by management, and where a clear commitment exists, we will do our best to honor it or provide a fair alternative.

Thank you for your patience and for holding us to a high standard.

  • @plumberg you tagged them thrice in a single comment and you are (respectfully) ignored.
