lol, I can still VNC to my service - however, no hablo networko (edit: when I typed that, network came back?!)
(as a complete aside, what control panel are they using at https://master.pandahost.co.uk/ ?)
Who else can they call next, the FBI and homeland haven’t made their servers work… ICE? ATF? CIA? Space Force?!?!?!
GHOSTBUSTERS!
Let's just hope they don't call for some contract with someone from under the table...

Hey, it's Christmas!
I'm almost out of gifs myself, this situation is getting serious.

I think the price I paid is quite good for what I got. About cashback claim window I simply don't care because I'm happy with what I purchased, so yes, it obviously was and is worth it.
As for honoring plans I suppose mine won't be cancelled because it highly likely is not below (their) cost. I'm btw not interested in VPS below $/€ 10 per year anyway and said so publicly.
Simple reason: Push a provider into a corner too tight and chances are that he's forced to either cut corners or cancel.
Neither. I paid via normal means (PayPal I think) and what I wrote was simply what I actually experienced.
As for @VeloxMedia cancelling/terminating some (actually quite a few it seems) VPSs, he IMO simply acts realistically. Of course I understand that those losing their super-cheap BF and similar deals are disappointed and maybe even angry, but IMO the new owner did the right thing; yes how he did it - and communicated it - wasn't well reflected and well prepared, but don't forget that it's HIM losing money!
I also find this whole shit storm/thread interesting because it shows a lot of things, among others how it looks when a provider is not an easy pushover and selects the route of saving the operation/business without lots of compromises albeit granted "using a dozer", but it also shows how wild quite a few LETsters go Karen-mode or worse and attack anyone who stays objective and neutral.
All in all I'm not happy with how this evolved but I can perfectly well understand that he does try a hard turn-around and gets rid of all deals that shouldn't have been made in the first place.
Here is but one example:
What I wrote was simply what I experienced and saw/see. Will VeloxMedia still be around in one year? I don't know but I wish them well and hope that Eric succeeds in turning VeloxMedia around into a good compromise between attractively cheap-ish and profitable.
That's rich to say that to one of the few around here who are guided by facts and reality and yes, some optimism too.
But then the two of us weren't destined to become friends anyway, I guess. But fair and decent coexistence might be achievable.
Any LET host could deadpool at anytime. I bet most dont have solid finances to survive a crisis.
Depends on the specs; I can imagine 10/year VPS can be profitable, but with low specs. I won't expect a 4C/8G/100G one for it - but lowspec, it's possible.
Always take a look at who pushes who - in this case, VeloxMedia did some crazy offers that he wasn't forced to do.
Maybe - there will always be people yelling when something they have is taken away from them. But now the real point:
That's the whole clue... if someone comes in, takes over a provider and just says "Hey, I see things here that under this new management we can't live up to" and "We have to find a solution with those customers" then most people will understand that. However, it was more like "I'm gonna terminate everything that I don't think is reasonable" - without specifying things, without proper communication, without saying if and how people will be compensated for the payments they've done... I mean, when I sometimes see prices out there it could even be that your VPS is "at risk" that may be in your eyes come at a reasonable price.
Don't forget that he's responsible for getting into this - a quick look at books (if there are any) or environment (don't trust people on their blue eyes) could have given an impression about what he's getting into.
Nowadays, in these times of polarized looking at things, you are either "pro" or "against", and nothing in between - I experience that here quite regularly also.
I don't like how communication went, I don't like not knowing if my VPS runs in 1 hour/day/month, but also I know that at this moment it's still running and I get what I've been paid for. So yes, I'm pssed that, as a customer, I haven't heard anything about this whole thing yet. On the other hand, we'll see what happens. I'll survive when my VPS is terminated and I've lost money. That's what can happen in this world. I'll be pssed ofcourse, but I won't do things like setting up DDoS attacks or try to get my money back when my VPS is still running.
Don't waste time on this NPC side quest. He’s just a broken record trying to numb you while the clock ticks on your money. Ignore him and get your chargebacks in before the window shuts. Don't let the noise cost you cash.
The flickering uptime and the 'DDoS' narratives are just there to fill the 'garbage time' while the chargeback window slowly closes. As long as the provider keeps the pings alive, they can tell Stripe or PayPal that the service is 'active,' effectively paralyzing your ability to claim a refund. It’s a classic strategy: stall until the clock runs out.
You should just fuck off with your AI-generated garbage.
Almost half of businesses doesn't have lots of cash nor strong finance anyway. Pandemic proves it. The survival rate on average is ~60%.
LET hosts could survive because their client pay upfront. So, they don't have to borrow from the banks to expand their business.
That's why we shouldn't ask for
unsustainabledeals, in particular therecurringdeals. It will only lead todeath spiral - Ponzi scheme. If calling out a strategic delay for chargebacks sounds like 'AI' to you, maybe it's because it's too logical for your comfort, but seeing the truth doesn't require an algorithm.
For most of my time on this forum, I was just the guy asking for 'double bandwidth' and 'more flash deals.' I didn't care about the 'facts' before, but it only took a couple of threads to open my eyes to some harsh facts I never bothered with before.
Its fun how much this thread reminds me of when cociu exitscammed.
its just from memory but
You got the big thread of people commenting, we got the lowendlawyers advising on what to do, some stragglers buying cheap servers based on the thread for some reason, jsg updating/arguing how his servers are up and how nothing is wrong, even when half the servers were down and i believe when cociu even started selling the parts online, we even got the owner stopping commenting and sending someone else to comment on behalf (i think this happened in the cociu thread aswell, but i might be wrong)
the new thing is ppl posting ai essays, but i hope theres not many more of those..
ah memories, i wonder how cociu is doing nowadays
server online for 4-5 hours then down again .. what a joke
sue.
I mean chargeback?
Where?

not yet.
Who here did chargeback so far?
Did you? Or were you not a client anyway?
fwiw, PayPal approved refund and closed my dispute in literally less than 60 seconds, so it seems their account is indeed most likely flagged or something.
