VPS in London went offline again,
It's possible that vendors' VPS will start going offline one by one.
Well, to add some to the speculations around here and the belief of some that Lewis=Eric, I had some PMs with Lewis before and I was struck by exactly the same attitude as Eric has here.
Won't mean anything, on the other hand...
Was idle so nothing other than config to move.
I always back up even if its just config files.
Haven't checked now but yesterday there was a lengthy legal discussion about EU client data being moved to a US operator.
Guy seems to be Clueless. Good thing he has a 'legal team'.
haha, i sent this to SOMEONE a few months ago:
In that reddit post, Lewis told any prospective buyers that the company was running at a 25% loss. So, he wouldn't have 12 months of cash ready in the bank unless the majority of his sales in BF were for 3 years.
Of course, he also said that he has been running Veloxmedia for 4 years. It's quite possible if he's made 25% loss every year, and this is the first year he tried a BF promotion that all the money that came in over BF was used to pay off his previous debts.
Absolutely cut the fat, but that can only apply to new sales going forward.
And that would be a breach of contract and people should chargeback immediately.
And this whole pro-rata nonsense. That's what already happens on an oversold node.
Maybe he could look at RAM ballooning, but that would still suck, and in any case doesn't fix the underlying problem, which is that he doesn't have enough people on each node to cover the costs of each node. The reason for that (and probably the reason for selling these crazy packages in the first place) is that the nodes are way too large. I suspect the underlying reason for this is that he's just got way too many locations for such a small company. If he started with a single server in one location, expanding only when that was filled, there's scope for reducing expenditure by moving instances to different nodes and reducing the server count.
That's just BS. You're buying into his shitshow. Prices don't have to increase at all. If you buy a business knowing it's losing money, that's on you. You need to cover the loss until you turn it around.
Sure, increase prices going forward for renewals and new orders, but customers who have already entered into a contract AND pre-paid are not just an infinite money source that you can extract more from. They're already paid and fulfilled all their obligations in the deal.
It seems like the problem was that he diversified into hosting and completely misunderstood what he was getting himself into.
Don't even give 3 months, that'll just make refunding / chargebacks even harder. If he's going to do that, do it ASAP. By all means, let people still access their data for a grace period, but operating for 3 months knowing he's going to do a full refund anyway is just guaranteeing an even bigger loss.
Which legal team is it? ChatGPT, Gemini or Claude lol
Link? I don't recall
My mistake sorry ...

Are you adoptable?
Meanwhile ...
My VPS in London is running fine with only a short network problem/outage. But it's a modest one (2c, 4GB, 50GB, 50TB@10Gb/s) and over $10/yr. Not a BF deal.
And Eric/@VeloxMedia is half taking care of hosting and half spending some festive time with his familiy (as it should be) I guess.
Of course I do see the wild speculations here but I prefer to see the facts available.
Merry Christmas to everyone who care.
Ok
don't forget to do the necessary!
Just an update. Earlier one of our London servers had an issue with the switch. I got with the support and they resolved it ASAP. All is online and good. Everything is online and working..... Fun 5AM Xmas morning for me over here in the US... but pretty typical.
Also another update. I'm seeing some chargeback emails. I can't see the statuses as I can only see the emails that come into Lewis's old Velox mailbox. So if anyone files a chargeback I'll be terminating their account and deleting all their data. I believe this is the best course of action and follows Lewis's original TOS. Its the most fair way and completely your decision as a buyer and your agreement between you and Lewis's company. It isn't fair for users to receive a refund while still keeping their full service.
Oh this is getting more fun, thanks @VeloxMedia !
If you're actually refunding them, then yes, that sounds fair. If you're contesting the chargeback, then no it's not right until and if a decision is made that upholds the chargeback.
Waaaait, suddenly you have lots of experience dealing with hosting issues on Christmas Day now? Riiiiiiiiiiight.
I can't see anything only the emails as they were attached to Lewis's velox account. This is between the payment company and their bank not me at all. They haven't notified me either way so there's no way for me to tell the status. How would I know? Also if they want to sue lewis or file charges with their bank thats their decision and I shouldn't be in the way of that by continuing to provide services that they apparently no longer want.
All the services are active and 100% operational. There's zero basis for a chargeback or case or dispute or anything.
Who said I never had experience?
Why do you even care? Its not your Paypal or Stripe account, or is it?
i just got one vps for £10 that is 1c1r i guess so as soon as it went down just contacted paypal and got refunded and i am moving on.
Do you have any experience as a hosting provider? Everything you've done and communicated so far suggests not and that you're winging it.
The fact that you seem to have a hard time understanding the basics of running a business, totally bamboozled by WHMCS, etc.
The company you claim to run that "bought" this shitshow had a complete make over in its website very recently, and seems to be a stock template for hosting providers, with obviously bogus address details. I strongly suspect you weren't even the original owner of this domain name, as until earlier this year it looked totally different (oh, and shock horror a different address in a completely different state).
Mind you maybe that was your website as well. That website was also a real gem that showed about as much competency as you're showing now, with stuff like this in the middle of the contact page:
But then again, you still haven't even told us your name. So, yeah, we have no idea who you are, but all evidence so far points to you not having any experience.
Please submit a ticket stating you got refunded and to delete your account and all data so we're not still hosting for free
Because its not fair that they're getting a full refund and I'm hosting their data. That's called fraud.
They need to pick a lane, Either they can take the path of litigation and try to get a refund or they can continue the service that's working perfectly fine. You don't get both legally
@mad_4u , dont create a ticket,, enjoy free server,,, its the least u can do to help lewii
Is it fair that people have paid in full and you're threatening to pull their service because you think Lewis sold it too cheaply?
How about YOU pick a lane dude.
All my three VPSes are currently affected by network issues, with heavy packet loss and failed SSH connections. I have already submitted a support ticket. Please take a look and assist with the issue.
do you think its fair that the customers have to deal with this?
The dude, that ran BoloxMedia, "ran" away to whaterver the fuck in Asia.
And you care about things to be fair right now?
You said you not gonna honor the deals, You already said you are different companies, yet you seem to work together.
And you expect people not to chargeback? Yea sure.
I hope Stripe and Paypal show you some love, after that many chargebacks.
