    I tried cutting sugar completely off my diet a few months ago, but, having consumed a lot of sugar with my beverages since childhood, I found out it might be tough for me. I am also slightly hypocalcemic. So, a full sugar cut won't work for me as well.

    cutting sugar (and pepsi) has been for me much, much harder than quitting cigarettes. like incomparable so. eventually i was able to switch to carbonated water, now it's all i drink. some people say bubbles are not good for you, but i say - who cares? it's just pure water and it's the way i like it. i have a carbonating machine SodaStream, and while company behind is really sucks, the product is very useful and been a delight for me. actually now i can drink flat water as well, but i do prefer bubbles. during workouts though it's just flat water, as bubbles there don't do you any good, don't wanna be needing to burp while running, jumping or planking.. BTW switching from frozen TV dinners to cooking healthy was also a long process and a learning curve, but now i am glad i did it. thanks to quitting cigarettes, my tongue developed incredible sense of taste, and i am really enjoying the stuff i cook. it's mostly always very spicy and i love it.

    I can relate to some of it. Everytime I quit cigarettes, I have noticed I have persistent cough that lasts weeks. But, once that subsides, I can breathe much easier, I mean I can feel the difference and yes, the thing taste is spot on. You can even notice changes in your lip colour. As for sugar, again, I relate. As a person who needed 3-4 teasponful of sugar with daily cups of coffee, completely cutting off sugar was unthinkable for me. But, right now, I don't have an option. I need to start cutting, even aggressively.

    lol i add honey to coffee now.. and fat free creamer. thru lots of trial and nasty, i found that creamer either comes sugar free or fat free, and the latter tastes better, so i choose fat free, with 1g added sugar per serving, it's not that bad. of course i consume added sugar here and there, but it's only like 5% of my total sugar intake. i make it my business to read the ingredients, but if i cannot avoid added sugar, i sometimes consume it anyway. mostly it's fat free or low fat stuff, as it turns out, if something is both fat and sugar free - it tastes like cardboard.. for me currently fat is of more concern than sugar, as i have the latter under control. fat - is a different beast entirely.. decades of workout-less life brought a lot of fat into my body. and while i am nearly fat free in arms and legs, my fat-belt is ridiculous still.. and i weigh good in the morning especially, for 1.8m tall i got 80kg, which is technically what it should be for normal person. i wanna be a fit person tho.. =) wanna live as much as i've lived so far.. =)

    Recently, I started taking honey or jaggery as a sugar replacement with black tea or black coffee. If you can get jaggery, try that as well, it's good.

    well, at least you'll know what and which and why and will be able to take steps to better your life and health, treat it like that.. i said before i had diabetes scare, all that pepsi i drank over the years.. now i don't eat anything with added sugar and i do still consume tons of sugar from fruit and nut and honey and such, and exercise hard, and before i used to check my sugar after meals - it wouldn't even spike anymore, barely 105 or so after heavy meal with bunch of fruit. which is a good thing.,. not that it helps with papers.. but still something. i will live long for my cats to live long. =)

    I wish you a long life, bro. And yes, I haven't checked my blood sugar in a really long time. I am sure given everything, the doctor would recommend I get it done today. Today, I'll know. Will let you know how it goes.

    I tried cutting sugar completely off my diet a few months ago, but, having consumed a lot of sugar with my beverages since childhood, I found out it might be tough for me. I am also slightly hypocalcemic. So, a full sugar cut won't work for me as well.

    cutting sugar (and pepsi) has been for me much, much harder than quitting cigarettes. like incomparable so. eventually i was able to switch to carbonated water, now it's all i drink. some people say bubbles are not good for you, but i say - who cares? it's just pure water and it's the way i like it. i have a carbonating machine SodaStream, and while company behind is really sucks, the product is very useful and been a delight for me. actually now i can drink flat water as well, but i do prefer bubbles. during workouts though it's just flat water, as bubbles there don't do you any good, don't wanna be needing to burp while running, jumping or planking.. BTW switching from frozen TV dinners to cooking healthy was also a long process and a learning curve, but now i am glad i did it. thanks to quitting cigarettes, my tongue developed incredible sense of taste, and i am really enjoying the stuff i cook. it's mostly always very spicy and i love it.

    I can relate to some of it. Everytime I quit cigarettes, I have noticed I have persistent cough that lasts weeks. But, once that subsides, I can breathe much easier, I mean I can feel the difference and yes, the thing taste is spot on. You can even notice changes in your lip colour. As for sugar, again, I relate. As a person who needed 3-4 teasponful of sugar with daily cups of coffee, completely cutting off sugar was unthinkable for me. But, right now, I don't have an option. I need to start cutting, even aggressively.

    lol i add honey to coffee now.. and fat free creamer. thru lots of trial and nasty, i found that creamer either comes sugar free or fat free, and the latter tastes better, so i choose fat free, with 1g added sugar per serving, it's not that bad. of course i consume added sugar here and there, but it's only like 5% of my total sugar intake. i make it my business to read the ingredients, but if i cannot avoid added sugar, i sometimes consume it anyway. mostly it's fat free or low fat stuff, as it turns out, if something is both fat and sugar free - it tastes like cardboard.. for me currently fat is of more concern than sugar, as i have the latter under control. fat - is a different beast entirely.. decades of workout-less life brought a lot of fat into my body. and while i am nearly fat free in arms and legs, my fat-belt is ridiculous still.. and i weigh good in the morning especially, for 1.8m tall i got 80kg, which is technically what it should be for normal person. i wanna be a fit person tho.. =) wanna live as much as i've lived so far.. =)

    one thing to watch out for is that an awful lot of "diet" stuff is fat free, and that usually means they've stuffed loads of sugar in instead to try to make it taste not awful. usually the original variant is the healthiest overall. fat is generally OK, it's only when it's combined with sugar (or sugar on its own) that the body tries to store it readily. if you're eating relatively little carbs and just have too much fat one day, most of it just gets pooped out again.
