I do remember back in last year's BF thread, me and FAT32, iirc, had a quick chat about family, obligations, relations and what not. I guess, that's how rn threads are.

And yeah, _ have dfferent famly oblgatons. Everyone s dfferent and has dfferent stuff to deal wth. But sometmes, regardless of oblgatons, you need to prortse yourself. That's probably easer n the UK, but we have dfferent challenges too.

But agan, that's not the pont _ was makng. Whether you see yourself as n control of your destny s up to you to decde. _ know t's hard, _ used to be the meekest person you could magne. But you have to step out n confdence and try to break out of the comfort barrer. Sometmes you fal, sometmes you succeed. Don't let the falures put you off, focus on the success.

Also, takng control of your own lfe is scary af. But t's worth tryng.

Part of what 'm sayng that 've held off actually sayng because the word themselves scare people, but 'll just say t.

    Don't let yourself have a v_ct_m mental_ty.

Most people who hear that wll mmedately thnk "but 'm not a vctm, ths sn't for me". That's not what t really means. T means don't be passve. Don't just let thngs happen to you and thnk you have no control over t. Be n control of your own lfe. Go for thngs. F you fal, you fal, that often happens, but f you don't try you defntely won't succeed.

N terms of ths thread, you're defntely gong for t. That's good, and you should stck t through, but for the future, go for thngs that you can control. Spammng a thread hopng that some company wll reward that _f you spam enough sn't beng n control, t's passve. Even f you wn ths one PC, that's just solvng today's problem, t doesn't make you a better verson of you. Just thnk, dd Dustn get where he s today by hopng someone else would gve hm a busness, or dd he go out there and buld t hmself?

I knew just pouring my heart out and talking about my issues would have someone call me out with that phrase. We are on a forum, so, I was well-prepared for that. But, the truth is, when I do post about my problems, I don't want anyone to respond, no one to sympathise or have mercy for me. I have no one who I can talk about these issues with, people who I love and care for, I don't wanna burden them. So, me posting about these issues is just me venting out, so that I can feel a little lighter.

T wasn't mean to call you out. T's a very well recognsed and understood ssue that affects around 1/3 of the workforce.

The pont s not to look at the label, but to understand what t means. There are two alternatve paths:

    • don't allow yourself to take control of your destny - everythng that happens n your lfe is because someone else decdes t for you, maybe your boss "allows" a vacaton request, or you wn a prze, or someone gave you a job
    • YOU are n charge of your lfe - every choce you make can change your current stuaton - sometmes good, sometmes bad. maybe you tell your boss you have to take vacaton on a partcular day, no dscusson, just that you need that day, or you earned the PC through work (and stckng to the thread s hard work), or you got the job because you were the best person for the job

These examples all have the same outcome, but how you see them completely changes the percepton you have about yourself.

That's why _ started by sayng v_ct_m was a bad word to use to descrbe it. gnore the word, focus on the method of takng control of your lfe.

Yah, I didn't want you to mistake the earlier statement, so, I left another comment later. I get the point you are making, and I get it. Appreciate it.

Yes, I do have a chronic fear of failures, but, then I realised, it's worse than not even trying. I mean it's better to fall down and learning to pick yourself up than never getting on that bicycle cause you fear you might just fall.
I have been falling a lot in the recent years, but, with every fall, I believe, I just earn 0.01% more confidence to pick myself up again and work towards my goals.
The bicycle was just an example, not referencing the talk a few 100 pages down

  • But, if you don't mind me asking, why isn't the keyboard fixed yet? I mean you did mention earlier that if my keyboard breaks, then I have to learn to make do with it, rather than spending money I don't have. I totally agree with that, cause, I have done that multiple times in life. But, I am just curious cause won't it be affecting your work a lot, working without a fully functional keyboard?

Doctor's appointment in about 3 hours. Would be lying if my heart is not beating fast and that I am not concerned at all

well, at least you'll know what and which and why and will be able to take steps to better your life and health, treat it like that.. i said before i had diabetes scare, all that pepsi i drank over the years.. now i don't eat anything with added sugar and i do still consume tons of sugar from fruit and nut and honey and such, and exercise hard, and before i used to check my sugar after meals - it wouldn't even spike anymore, barely 105 or so after heavy meal with bunch of fruit. which is a good thing.,. not that it helps with papers.. but still something. i will live long for my cats to live long. =)

I wish you a long life, bro. And yes, I haven't checked my blood sugar in a really long time. I am sure given everything, the doctor would recommend I get it done today. Today, I'll know. Will let you know how it goes.

I tried cutting sugar completely off my diet a few months ago, but, having consumed a lot of sugar with my beverages since childhood, I found out it might be tough for me. I am also slightly hypocalcemic. So, a full sugar cut won't work for me as well.

cutting sugar (and pepsi) has been for me much, much harder than quitting cigarettes. like incomparable so. eventually i was able to switch to carbonated water, now it's all i drink. some people say bubbles are not good for you, but i say - who cares? it's just pure water and it's the way i like it. i have a carbonating machine SodaStream, and while company behind is really sucks, the product is very useful and been a delight for me. actually now i can drink flat water as well, but i do prefer bubbles. during workouts though it's just flat water, as bubbles there don't do you any good, don't wanna be needing to burp while running, jumping or planking.. BTW switching from frozen TV dinners to cooking healthy was also a long process and a learning curve, but now i am glad i did it. thanks to quitting cigarettes, my tongue developed incredible sense of taste, and i am really enjoying the stuff i cook. it's mostly always very spicy and i love it.

I don't wanna bother you with any questions, but, I have heard of activists on Twitter and such taking up cases of immigrants and helping them get their papers. Would it be a good idea to get in touch with them maybe, since you have everything ready to submission and all and everything's been delayed for no fault of yours.

i have a lawyer who i paid $10k by now... i believe he's doing all he can.. but thanks for suggestion. those activists will help people who are really in need. like asylum seekers that have babies and shit.. haha i read a few months ago this family from south america with 2 babies came to USA via that migrants path through all countries and mexico and eventually settled in a chicago suburb. took them literally 2 years to get green cards and buy a house.. hehe.. some people are just destined for greatness. i would have long gone back to mother russia if it weren't for my cats, who i love more than life (that orange creamsicle guy that i put a photo of in the very beginning was sick this summer, i ended up paying $24k for his treatment, of them $10k reimbursed by cat-insurance tho).. just saying this to point out that i simply cannot leave them, and it will kill me if i am ever taken away from them. someones to live for, to fight for.. my wife now - meh, just biding her time until i get papers, then we will divorce most likely. but my cats are my life. although they are very short lived, but i am trying to do all i can to extend their lives, like feeding them grain free diets and yearly shots and checkups for worms and any other sicknesses.. anyways, i should stop complaining. my friends earlier in life called me "grandpa" cause i like to complain about stuff.. hehe.. it's stupid..

BTW, how much would it cost to take the cats to Russia with you? Would it be a lot? Or else, if not Russia, have you considered moving to another friendly or semi-friendly country?
Since your business, i believe, is mostly online, all you'd need is a good internet connection

i do not have any direct relatives anymore, do not have a place i could call my own, so before i would have to find a place to live etc.. it is doable, moving cats with me, but probably would be a very very stressful for them. and who knows what waits for me in russia.. they might just scoop me up and send me to war in Ukraine.. when i left, i also ran away from the mandatory 2yr army duty. although i am too old now, the cut off age is like 35, they might still send me, nobody cares anymore, putin is same as trump.. fucking usurpers..

I can relate to some of it. Everytime I quit cigarettes, I have noticed I have persistent cough that lasts weeks. But, once that subsides, I can breathe much easier, I mean I can feel the difference and yes, the thing taste is spot on. You can even notice changes in your lip colour. As for sugar, again, I relate. As a person who needed 3-4 teasponful of sugar with daily cups of coffee, completely cutting off sugar was unthinkable for me. But, right now, I don't have an option. I need to start cutting, even aggressively.
